Did anyone get a chance to go and see it!?!?!?!?!?

I had rehearsal all damned weekend, so I am thinking of going this weekend, SO NO SPOILERS PLEASE but would definitely like to hear ppl's opinions of it. ***IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT, please do not post your opinion based on the commercials. I hate that shit. And hearing that Johnney Depp is being compared to Michael Jackson because he wears white make-up and is quirky, is pretty weak too - so if I can hear any pro's/con's based on the storyline, acting, overall look, etc. That would be great.

Spanks, <3 JEN

It was a great movie. It isn't as much of a musical now, but they still have the OompaLoompa songs, but totally revamped. I won't tell you how though. Also, they give a lot more history and back stories, and it has some flashbacks which was pretty cool. Johnny Depp was great once again. If you go in expecting it to be like the first, you will be disappointed. It was great in its own way, and a great way in my opinion. Tim Burton <3

awesome movie....

It was ok..I didn't like some of the changes they made but overall it was pretty good

First of all, I will not do a comparison between the original and the new edition in addition to no spoilers. It was a different type of movie than the original and had a different set up. The characters had a different tone and style fitted for this version.
There were lots of children in the audience so it safe to take the kiddos.

Since I have never read the original book (by Ronald Dahl), the “changes” may or may not be consistent with it. The person who went to see the movie with me thought this version had a little more of a plot and background.

So if you are either a fan of the original author or Tim Burton, this movie is probably worth seeing.

1. Movie was freaking awesome
2. Movie was freaking creepy
3. All lyrics were written by Roald Dhal himself, 'nough said
4. Oompas are creepily all the same guy
5. Pay attention to Johnny during the Oompa songs
6. Awesome fantastical world created
7. The entire main room of the factory is a REAL SET
8. Did I mention this movie is creepy?
9. I actually had a quazi-nightmare the night after seeing this, something about Oompa Loompa Tarutarus...

The story was more in the way of the book and not the movie "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". I didn't really care for the story I went for the visuals. The atistic uniqueness was what I went for and I wasn't dissapointed in the least! Also, in the previews they showed another Burton film called "Bride of Death" or something like that...looked friggen amazing and I can't wait to see it.

Corpse Bride is the preview they showed. And it is an animated movie, and looks just like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Johnny Depp is the voice of the main character, and the mother from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory plays the Corpse Bride. The movie looks like a cross between Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas.

But back on topic, I went and saw this again, but this time at an IMAX theatre. One word sums it up ... amazing. :D

Off topic IMAX question:
is imax generally more expensive than normal theater?
And anyone in the Chicago Suburbs know where one is?

Cost about the same as a weekend night movie view for me..$8.50-12 but I live in Dallas so prices may vary. It's worth it though especially if you've never been.

I don't actually recall the IMAX ticket prices because I didn't have to pay to see it. I have a friend that works at the theatre and got us in free.

And go to www.imax.com for IMAX locations. Just find your state in the listing and look for ones around you. I'm in New York and went to the one at the Palisades Mall, which is the third biggest mall in the US I think.

I went and saw it yesterday. I must say, I loved it. I liked it a lot more than the original movie, and the original is one of my favourite movies. It was a lot more closer to the book. Charlie's dad was still alive, Willy Wonka talked a little more about how he got the Oompa Loompas to come work for him, they used the Great Glass Elevator to get around, etc. The Oompa Loompa songs are from the book as well. It's been a few years since I last read the book, but it seemed as if everything that happened in the movie was in the book, with the exception of Wonka's flashbacks about his childhood. And the sountrack by Danny Elfman was awesome.

I'm wondering if they'll make the second Wonka book, Willy Wonka and the Great Glass Elevator, into a movie or not. If they do, that'd be awesome.
