Has anyone else been having a MAJOR problem with the chat filters lately?

Ever since the last update - my chat filters work whenever they feel like it (which isn't often) so I am having to try to Magic Burst and whatnot WHILE reading the surrounding parties actions. >< >< >< ><

I have tried turning them off then back on...I have tried rebooting. Nothing.

*Any advice for an annoyed Elvaan?!

I'll say Thank you also Kipsy. I've been goin' nuts with the same thing Jender just described.

Good topic.
I've resorted to drinking heavily, but Yomi's solution sounds good too.

Thanks. I generally have all the filters on, except pt chat, attacks evaved my pt members and attacks evaded by me and ls one. makes counting shadows easier for ninja

Can also turn off everything below NPC that seems to filter out a majority of excess info.

Yeah my chat filters are all messed up >.< meaning they dont work anymore so it sucks lots :cry: :cry: :cry: thanks for the info I'm gonna try and I so hope it helps... thanks for asking about this Jender ^^

Yeah I been having this problem too but been learning too live with it. I am going too take that advice and try it.

I had that problem at first. But I realized that NPC stood for Non-Party Character, instead of Non-Player Character. All the NPC filters off should do it.

WHAT!? >_<

well at least now it makes a little sense. i was going nuts thinking about how i had to turn on NPC filters to stop other party messages.

there is still a problem though, now that i turned on non-PARTY-character filters i can't see monster special actions. specifically, i can't see when a goblin is preparing a bomb toss (to stop it with Stun).

any thoughts?

I switched them last night, and it worked...Most of the stuff outside my party is gone now. The really annoying stuff anyway, like all the damage caused on a MOB by a near by party.
I still see a few things, but it's MUCH better.

See, I've never noticed this. I can still stop gobbybombs. Maybe I should screenshot what I have on, and what I have off...and you guys can all try that out.

I have had a lot of flake problem since the Chat Filter Update. Some times my filters work other times they don’t (even with out me changing the settings). I have also had cases of text not showing up that should be. Such as an enfeebling spell sticking, but not telling me it happened.

mine seem to work when they want. then I got desperate and hit
NPC filters. That seems to do it so far.

I was in Garliage Citadel. (thru floor) two parties nearby made
my eyes bleed from all the battlespam. I just Skillchained by watching
the animations. A party member had the same problem.

Hi all~ first post here ^^

Chat filters are changed a lil after the last update in December.

NPCs are non-player characters (includes monsters).
The filters are prioritised, higher priority to filter at the top.
1. Your actions
2. Party members actions
3. Allies' actions
4. NPC actions
5. Others' actions

So if you filter damage taken by NPC and unfilter Party member's attacks, you see your PT attacks on the mob you are fighting, but damages all other damages taken by other NPCs around are filtered.

On the other hand, if you filter party members' attacks and unfilter damage taken by NPC, you do not see damages on your mob but damages taken by other NPC still appears.

Hope this makes sense to you all ^^;

There is no way to filter chat so that only special actions initiated by the NPC you are fighting appears.. which sucks as I am a rdm; ;
