OMG Rabid - that was soooooo evil!!!! /em vomits profusely

I was afraid of lakes for awhile too. I almost drowned when I was like 6 or 7 - my Uncle saved me on my Smurf raft <3 My parents immediately put me in swimming lessons so I wouldn't live in fear, then we went to a lake about a year later to go for a swim, and there were police and ambulances everywhere - a little 8 year old had drowned.

I swim in pools now...

I was afraid of cows... Not sure why... Had nightmares that they would hang from my doorframe like bats or something...

Also of cliff like edges... Still have that one.

Stuffed animals, the taxidermy kind, not sure if theres a real term for them, I just always called them stuffed, lol. I think it's the dead eyes that always seem to follow you where ever you try to move. We went to a local museum one day and went into a room full of these big stuffed bears and lions and stuff, I was scared stiff.

When I was 7 my parents took me to Six Flags Over Texas, we rode a ride called The Spelunker Cave. There were dozens of little ugly gnome-like creatures dancing and singing, anamatronic spiders hanging from the ceiling with glowing red eyes and moving their arms around, not to mention we were riding a little canoe-like boat with a big ugly dragon head on the front facing the passengers.

Also when my teeth were loose I was always afriad to let my parents pull them, and I hated pulling them myself. Sometimes they had to hold me down to get them out, keep in mind the teeth were so lose they didnt really need to have much pressure apllied to come out. My parents were afraid that would traumatize me.

Yeah....pretty traumatizing, eh?

My childhood fear (which hasn't quite gone away yet, heh) is marionettes. Just the way those things move around all jerky-like and the creepy expressions on their faces are...

Ugh, Porcelain Dolls are the worst thing ever. They just sit there and stare at you and their eyes follow you.

Doctor's offices and hospitals. To this day I get quivery and nervous in a hospital.

Aww Sabs! You should come see my dog, she doesnt even Bark!!

My worst fear when I was young gots to of been:

When I jumped off of something my feet would catch and I would slam really hard into the floor teeth first and be toofless for the rest of my life.

And it's still a fear now is slides. When I was in grade 2 I fell off a really tall slide and broke both my wrists... I was pushed I swear.

You probably know the slide Sabs! The one at St. Rupert park the really big one..

Bees.

I hate them, always have, always will.
Stepping on a nest of mexican yellowjackets when I was 10 didn't help.
I got stung 50+ times. I almost died from bee stings. I hate those fuckers.

the movie "Creature from the Black Lagoon" was what freaked me out to no end when i was a kid. and seeing it in 3D didnt help matters much.

another thing that sticks with me is a scene from the first Ammityville movie when a girl has her hands on the windowsill and the window smashes down on them. to this day i never put my hands on a windowsill without making sure that other pane stays up.

When I was a child there was a "boogyman" that everyone said lived in the woods behind my parents house. His name was BLOODY BONES. *shudders* Now I know you are probably thinking "What a goofy name!" Well when you are 8 years old and you are playing in those woods behind your parents house, and then you notice that the sun is starting to hit the tree line. The fear starts welling up inside you like a thousand hands pushing on a locked door all at once!

You look over your right shoulder then your left.

Then in the over active mind of an 8 year old boy you hear it..........The horrible cackling of HIM! The sound mimics someone gasping for air while screaming at the same time....loudly! All the sounds of the woods are still. No wind....No birds....No anything.....Then from behind you hear the sound of leaves crushing under somethings weight. You don't even turn to see what it was....you just run like your life is on the line. Cackling is all you hear in your ears as you run faster and faster. The smell of clabbered blood fills my nostrils. As my fingers reach out and touch the back door knob.....it all comes back. The birds are singing....the wind starts blowing again, and he is gone............for now.

When I was a small boy growing up nothing scared me more than this "monster". Scared of the dark? No way! What was that thump under my bed? Who fucking cares! I knew that once I was in my parents house HE couldn't get to me, and anything that "lived" under my bed was a cream puff compared to this guy!

Now you are probably asking yourself "What made this guy so scary?" Well like i've said I was only 8 or somewhere around that age when I learned of this dude. Actual story I was told:

"He stands around 7 feet tall. Has a huge, rusty, blood covered machete. Here's the best part. No skin...No mucle....No organs. Just a skeleton! Bones constantly dripping with blood. Small pieces of meat still clung to the bones in places. The only thing other than the machete he had on him was a pair of tatered brown pants that were only knee length and frayed at the ends. His "face" wasn't like other skulls you've seen. The eyes were more than just holes. They were deep.....really deep black like evil poured from them nonstop. His brow was contorted in a grimace......always! He hungers for the blood of the living. When you are in the woods late in the evening...don't wonder too far from the safety of your home."

So anyway that was what scared me as a child.

Being alone...

It still scares me...

The idea of being in a room all by yourself with multiple entrances for someone or something to come in and get you still creeps me out.

Also the fact that my house is haunted doesn't help.

When I was a tiny one, we lived in the middle of an oak forest in central Texas. One of our few neighbors enjoyed zipping down the road all the time on a dirt bike. I thought nothing of it until my sister, in a cruel state of mind, told me he was a serial killer, and that his name was "the muffin man." I was terrified. She claimed he used his trade as a muffin maker to lure kids into his home, where he decapitated/disembowled/hung/burned/buried/ate them. I wasn't scared of him for very long, though, as I had the chance to meet him when he came by looking for his dog. He was a nice guy, and didn't mutilate me.
Do I win the award for "most stupidly named childhood fear"?

I was deadly afraid of placito flamingo(sp?) from sesame street and when brother would turn off the lights in the basement and start playing the old, original undertaker music. I am also afraid of TAM the see through human body model with light up breasts that i saw in 5th grade (i thought it would come into my room in the middle of the night). Also,my math teacher who is just plain scary, and my social studies teacher, who as my friend quoted wears, "hooker boots"
