I've been curious how one learns/obtains the Stories... according to somepage's list of new Key Items, there are 5 such items, one for the npc of each main city, Brutus (Jeuno), and a Bashraf, which I assume is in Al Zahabi? If 3 are obtained by raising a choco in the main cities, how does one acquire the other 2?

Here's the listing: http://ffxi.somepage.com/news/283#New_Key_Items
(page down once)

Incidentally, has anyone attempted raising 2 chocos at the same time with the same character? During my attempts to learn the stories, I spoke to the npc raisers in the other main cities (including Jeuno). No luck, of course, but after speaking with the npc raisers of a different city, I got the impression I could raise a choco with them as well.

I set my rest for only one day, and it FULLY restored my chocobo's energy.

Mine automatically restored it's energy to full, and I depleted it as much as possible yesterday. So this was fail.

I met Zopago for the second time and didn't get his story.

I don't think 2k a piece is that expensive... lol

On another note, my chocobo is now friends with Air.

While the price makes sense because they require a 1000 gil item and gardening grown only items, one meal seems to only fill up the chocobo 1/3 of the way.

Might be a little easier to grow grass on the side and level cooking a bit.

cupid worm was like 200k and carrot broth something like 2-300k a stack

don't have to buy the most expensive food though :P

And San d'Oria Carrot is only like 29 per single, and fils the chocobo 1/3. So if you want to take the cheap way out, 3 carrots will fill a chicks stomache, costing less then 100 gil total.

I didn't meet him twice personally, but people on bg said they got it after meeting him twice... I suppose it could be random whenever you meet him next though, or even three encounters.

Vomp Carrots and Cupid Worms are grown from wild grass as well. And aside from Celerity Salad, it seems the foods cap out at 31 cooking. So you could effectively juice grind high enough to make the pastes.

31 cooking and some pots filled with wildgrass seeds make it cheap. You'll just need Distilled Water and the Millet, which are buyable from merchants, and a Lizard Egg. And really, you shouldn't have an issue getting eggs. The Millet is from 1st place nation Chocobo stable merchant, it seems.

The result of the wild grass gardening seems to be entirely dependant on crystal. So you can buy the junko merchant pots from each nation.

Cupid worms are stupid hard to grow, I've got 5 pots to harvest them out of 108, for 20 total worms.

My advice on gardening wildgrass: don't use wind whatever you do, and water is a nice solid crop.

Takes about 3 days til you feed the first crystal, then another 3-4 for harvest.

Actually Skaw, the millet is sold by any of the chocobo mercents, period. Sadly, its insanely expensive, at almost 2k per millet.

my theory on this is the energy will regen full per day. the "rest" part of the chocobos training helps prevent injury and helps get over injury/sickness. so, using the "rest" part of its training course may be nothing more than increasing resistance to illnesses and/or injuries.
according to the npc that tells you info about abilities, the daily routines, and whatnot, that is his basic description of resting
