Chocobo Race Game, etc

Okay, I seem to be doing quite well on that Chocobo Racing Game, whatever it's called. I did it twice, and both times I got Dragon Chronicals. I was wondering if there was anything that could increase the speed of riding a chocobo? Do "Movement Speed+" equip work? Does the Chocobo gear work? What works? I know something has to in order for this guy to get it done in like 17 minutes, when it takes me almost 20, and everyone else even longer.

Also, I was wondering what I should put as an animated pic on my sig or avatar...
A female taru Bard singing a song.
An Elvaan DRK using Cross-Reaper.
Maat.
A Monk using Dolphin Kick. Mithra in full AF.
A male taru NIN using Ninjutsu.
A female hume NIN using some sort of WS.
A female hume PLD using some sort of (awesome) WS.
A female taru PLD using /salute.
A male hume RDM using Evisceration.
A female taru SMN casting a summon.
A female elvaan DRK using Spiral Hell.
A female hume PLD using Swift Blade.
Or a female taru WHM using /panic.
 
Chocobo speed is max in the game without cheating. Chocobo gear only extends riding time.
 
ProTip: Do the Windy<->Sandy or Windy<->Bastok races for Miratete's Memoirs (more xp than Dragon Chronicles). You'll need at least one piece of choco riding gear for Bastok<->Windy most likely. You have 28:29 for Sandy and 32:29 for Bastok to get MM.

Vana'diel Clock now lists which chocobo race is going where, and what the prize is, so you can know exactly where to go. Quite handy.
 
I know about the Memoirs. I just don't think I could do it in the given time. See, I've gone from Bastok to Sandoria lots of times so I know lots of little short cuts and where I'd be cut off and stuff. Yeah, Skaw, I looked it up and it's called Dragon Kick, but the picture was titled Dolphin Kick or something. You sure they're not two totally different weapon skills or something? It looked like a 2-hit attack, and Dragon Kick isn't (from what I've seen). Personally, I use <http://www.mithrapride.org/vana_time/chocoracetable.html>
 
Nope, its dragon kick. No such thing as Dolphin Kick
 
Dolphin Kick was in FF7 and possibly 8...

I've only ever seen the MNKs in my linkshell (both HUMEs) do dragon kick ...
 
That's still Dragon Kick? But the picture shows a double attack, Dragon Kick is only a single attack. I've seen a Galka use it before, and it was only one kick.
 
i can definitevely confirm that dragon kick is a two kicks attack, even for galkas (but i agree, the first one is a bit hidden by the "earthquake" animation).

That explains it then.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna leave my sig the way it is 'til I can either get photoshop, or someone decides to actually help me get a new one. I have all the pics lined up, I just can't crop them properly. Either that, or I just get tired of the current sig.

So you guys are SURE chocobos can't run faster?

On another line how often can a person do a chocobo race?

I've done 2 but they have been spaced apart by at least 2 weeks

and I know it is greater than 2 days.
