Whelp, I just got my little girl to learn Gallop on day 27 and she came standard equipped with Treasure Finder so now the average Discernment I got for her no longer matters. I'm about to start a constant Strength and Endurance diet/work regime so I have a better than vendor blue chocobo (yay for Gallop!). But I got to wondering, wtf does Receptivity do? She currently has a Better Than Average rating in Receptivity that will obviously get lowered back to Poor as I raise the other two stats. I've never had a chocobo with anything other than Poor for this stat before. I breeded my Poor receptivity chocobo just fine already so it doesn't seem to be a huge factor in breeding... does it do anything? I can't find any info about it on ffxiclopedia so wondered if anyone knows something about this mystery stat.

I think it only matters in racing. If its a female chocobo she'll probably flirt with the other male chocobos and get them really horny so they let her win.
If its a male chocobo it probably just makes them threaten to rape the female chocobos, thus making them stop dead in their tracks from fright.

So the females want to be raped? I would think they would run even faster to get away.

That's what you'd think, but chocobos are stupid creatures. They think if they stand still and close their eyes they turn invisible. Which actually do work as chocobos can only see moving things, that's how stupid they are. Its only further proven by the fact that the chocobo in Al Zahbi never get kidnapped, and he always stand still and closes his eyes during besieged.

"Hey guys, my chocobo's rape skill just reached outstanding! Wooot!"

I thought receptivity effected the chance of retaining stats/abilities through breeding.

That seems logical enough, but I'm the type that likes to see things in writing. Is there any link anywhere that backs up this info, or is it just hearsay? It's not a huge concern of mine since I have every intent to max out str and end, but it's more of curiosity than anything else. Maybe if it does help with breeding I'll try to very slowly raise it up after I max the other two stats and see how high I can get it before auto-retirement.

When I talked to the npc that explains the stats, they said it related to how well they get along with other chocobo's and breeding is the only activity I can think of that would involve another chocobo that stats would matter. It might not be related to breeding, but that's my best guess.

Hey Rappa. On ffxicyclopedia, all I could find on Receptivity was listed about 2 inches from the bottom of the page on http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Category:Chocobo_Raising:

Receptivity: Affects the chocobo’s ability to communicate with fellow chocobos.

I looked into it a little further to see if I could get anyone to elaborate on what exactly the point of that is, and I found this post:http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/general-ffxi-discussion/64351-random-thoughts-chocobo-racing.html Just click on the => next to "Chocobo Racing."

Hope this helps.

guess will see if they ever come out with Chocobo racing. Whonder if they going break it off into diffent brackets like in FFVII. My JadeDancer will be S class champion:wink:
