Chrono Trigger DS

London (6th August 2008)– Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that CHRONO TRIGGER® will be released across PAL territories in early 2009 exclusively on the Nintendo DS™ handheld system.
They say that "time is money" but for our hero, Crono it is much more than that! Get ready to travel through time to avoid the destruction of the world as we know it. With CHRONO TRIGGER, your notion of time will be turned upside down as you race against it like you've never done before, while all the decisions you make along the way will affect past, present and future!
Originally released in 1995 for the Super NES® CHRONO TRIGGER is regarded as a classic that was sadly never released in the PAL territories. We may not have a time machine to rectify the past, but thankfully CHRONO TRIGGER is about to change history. This all-new edition of CHRONO TRIGGER contains all the classic essence of the original while introducing the portability, dual-screen presentation and Touch-Screen functionality of the Nintendo DS.
John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "It gives me great pleasure to see CHRONO TRIGGER being released in Europe and the PAL territories. With its ground breaking story and gameplay, this epic RPG with multiple endings has already won the hearts of many fans and I hope it delights a whole new audience of players into revisiting the CHRONO TRIGGER world time and again."

"Hey, John?"
"Yeah Bill?"
"I have a great idea."
"What's on your mind?"
"You know that announcement we've gotta make for the PAL release of Chrono Trigger?"
"Yeah?"
"Let's fill it to the brim with sickening time puns."
"... I love it."

They only look worse cuz they seem a bit blown up. Happens with 8 bit ;P

The 2 bars are hp and mana thing im guessing <_<

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

(caps!!!)

<_<; uh, I don't think it's that much to be excited about. <3 Chrono Trigger and all.. but still. I remain by my thoughts. This game is nothing special, since I've already played it a ton. They added barely anything worth my money. Portability. Psh. I've played it for SNES and the Playstation.

This is just another remake, and after already playing one remake that actually included something new (anime cutscenes styled after Akira Toriyama's work, anyone?) one bonus dungeon and remastered dialog still doesn't do it for me. A story is a story, no matter how slightly changed it might be. Even remastered dialog can't alter that in my opinion. I went through the story countless times with the original. Nothing can change the impression of awesomeness that the game left on me.

Its a big deal, This could possibly mean the revival of the Chrono series.

Also, The Chrono Bus is coming to the UK!

Now it's brand new dungeon(s)... interesting, looking forward to this, I foresee it stuffing a lot of Christmas stockings, and releasing it November 25th to capitalize on Black Friday sales is a good idea.

Nov. 25... just a few days before my birthday. Since I cringe at the idea of playing $40 for the game -- I didn't own it back in the day, so I haven't built up enough nostalgia to throw my money at S-E the way I do for all the Final Fantasy ports -- the gift idea may be the way to go. I'll end up buying it after Christmas if I can't convince someone else to spring for it, though.

it looks to me that i will have to buy a ds soon...

Few days before my birthday too, but I plan on picking it up for myself the day it comes out, if not early when it gets shipped to my store. I don't mind paying the 40 for it though because it is my most favorite game ever made. I have my SNES version still, and the PS1 version, but now I can take it with me wherever I want.

Don't know if this has been posted on here yet, but there will be an optional SNES mode for people who don't want touch-screen controls.

It's a nice idea. I bought Resident Evil DS and always play it on Classic. Someday, I may get around to trying all the new stuff in Rebirth mode.

NICE, 4 days after my b-day

now to buy a ds

Take with a grain of salt but these are supposedly the other extras in CTDS, aside from the PS version extras and the classic game mode.

Players will control, breed and battle up to 50 different species in an arena where some nifty rare items can be obtained, either on their own our against others via Nintendo Wi-Fi. Your monsters will even change their look as they get stronger.

Second, the addition of two brand new dungeons for the player to explore:

-------------------------------------------------

Dimensional Distortion
A mysterious dungeon suddenly appears. Travel through time to overcome the challenges, and reach the depths to claim a hidden power. Clearing the different parts of the dungeon will affect the End of Time in some way.

Dragon's Sanctuary
In the last leg of the story, new gates to prehistoric times and the middle ages suddenly appear. Within the dungeon, one will have to complete various requests to continue. The quests gradually increase in difficulty, and you may have to go to a different era in order to continue. Help the Reptites to reach the innermost parts of the dungeon. What could be waiting there...?

Wonder if there's gonna be an additional ending or two with completion of the two dungeons, or if they'll just add them to the requirements of the all sidequests + Black Thingy clear.
Also, Chronomon.

This makes me more annoyed that the UK has to wait longer, but AT LEAST WE FINALLY GET IT!

lol, you just now saw that? :P

It is kind of funny how they sync up pretty well.

The music of Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite things about the game though.

Magus's Theme = My Favorite
Frog's Theme, Robo's Theme, and the general game's main theme are all some of my favorites as well.

Nah, I've known for a while, just felt fitting to post to keep the thread alive, 1 month and 24 days til release!
