Church Shooting

At the bare minimum, I'm glad no children were harmed. Condolences to the family members of those killed and those harmed, though.

Let the fucker rot forever.

he's a believer in the "old south" he says. wake up and smell the roses. the old south is long gone. and on that note wtf does believing in the old south have to do with shooting a church? I'm with Realia on this one.

It sounds like he targeted the Unitarian Universalist church because it's liberal and works for equal rights for women and gays. For a disillusioned good ol' boy, I'm sure that made it a valid target for the ignorant motherfucker.

There are plenty down here (yours truly *not* being one of them, but having to deal with them daily) that do not share your sentiment, Z.

This is horrible news. I hope that the injured people recover and that the families and their friends get through this rough time. ; ;

Sadly the "old south" is still alive and thriving. If you think it isn't, come to South Carolina. There was a billboard that read, "South Carolina is so gay" and everyone freaked but the billboard that read that laying with a man is wrong was left alone. That is just one example of how the conservative "old south" is still around here. There is a growing liberal movement but the conservatives out here widely outnumber the open minded people. I'm not saying that all conservatives are bad but the ones around here are highly vocal and don't want things to change at all.

6 Injured with gunshot wounds, 2 dead.

My uncle is a preacher and knows some of the people in that church. One of the people that died jumped in front of a kid to stop a shotgun blast. He spent his last moments alive with that childs father crying over him.

Aparantly, he couldn't find a job, and that was somehow the fault of all the liberals so he decided to shoot up a church.

Doesn't he know all liberals are godless Blaphemers and during church hours they sit around and sodomize each other while plotting to keep him from getting a job?

At least there are still some worthwhile people out there.

I really don't understand people who would open fire on a random group of people, especially a group that had a large amount of children. I mean, how is that going to help you fix whatever your problem is? You don't have enough ammo to take down everyone; you're going to get caught. There are plenty of other ways to get your ass thrown in jail that don't hurt anyone. People who have such little regard for life - including their own - sicken me.

And, yeah. I agree with Tristam. Let that fucker rot.

I couldn't read the entire article. That shit makes me sick. You can bet your ass that what ever type of Karmic retribution you adhere yourself to, be it God, Allah or whoever, is going to beat this fucker down for eternity. He deserves every little bit of it.

I hate people who try to push their beliefs on others, they drive me up a wall. These types? Who either want to save the people from their own corruption or to punish them for believing differently? These people make me want to buy a semi-automatic.

have you forgotten where i grew up? I'm more southern then the both of you, but I've lost most of my accent living with these damn yanks over the years.

i'll rephrase it. the old south is gone in the real world. whether or not the South Carolina jackasses that still hide white sheets in their closet wanna believe it or not, thats their problem.

Umm.... we have South in our name and our state usually is the laughing stock due to the civil war flag. Plenty of people here STILL say "The South will rise again" and get laughed at by me. So no I don't think La is more southern than SOUTH Carolina. :P If anyone we're about the same but it sounds like my state is more resistant to change and still thinks that they should be separate from the United States even though most of us tell them to shut up. Our state also dwells on it's history of being a Southern state because they're proud of it and because it brings in the tourists. Our states are both part of the Deep South. Just because your state is a little bit more southern geographically doesn't make it more southern. I can't speak about the "Old South" being in other states though.

that doesn't change the fact that the old south is officially long gone. they can believe whatever they want. that don't make it true. their failure to grasp the reality of the times speaks loads for their mental fragility.

My parents also believe that the south hasn't changed much. but then again they also lived during that time and have actually had the words "nig*ar get out of my store" or something along those lines uttered to them, especially my dad cause he's a lot darker-skinned then my mother. i tell them the same thing, that doesn't happen anymore. the fools in your state are part of a dying breed. and it'll be a happy day when they finally become worm food.

I definitely agree that the people who still think like that are deluding themselves and I'll be glad when the mindset is gone but honestly you do still find people that have that mindset in my state. Ever wonder why SC is last in every good poll?

i'd love to ask them. ok so SC breaks away from the US. Then what?

South Carolina>> The one with the rascist flag
While symbolic of an era of hate and prejudice, South Carolina citizens continue to fly the state's Confederate flag, as many claim " It just looks pretty."

While ashamed of the history associated with their state flag South Carolinians cant help but notice how nice the blue cross looks against the red background. In fact, many say the only thing more pleasing is the sight of an African-American being hanged from a tree.

Ah, the Onion - such prodigious reporting.

I've traveled extensively, and personally lived in 80% of the "Dixie States". It's the same no matter where you go, and it's no worse in any of them from the other really. Confederate sympathizers or whatever you wish to call them, etc, exist everywhere down here.

As Z said, yes - they're of a dying breed; in the South. In fact, the largest movement of anti-X groups (be it W.A-S.P. Supremacist or what have you) these days is in lesser-populous states, especially Idaho. It's disheartening, but the sentiments exist and as long as individuals and groups perpetuate it, they'll always exist, sadly.
