When my boss got in today, he was mumbling about something called Cicadas. When I told him I didn't know what was going on, he explained to me that every 17 years, legions of these noisy bugs, called Cicadas, hatch and are everywhere you look.
I did a little research online, and it turns out he isn't just crazy. There is a cicada 'attack' coming towards the end of May to northern IL.
17 years ago, I was 5, so i guess I don't remember this happenening. A friend of mine said she remembers seeing "little black bugs all over her friend's lawn and trees."
If this happens I am going to freak out. I don't want to say I'm afraid of bugs, but I will say that seeing bugs fills me with a great sense of fear. (That sounds less shameful.) I don't want to walk outside and see hundreds of bugs all over the ground.
Anybody have any cicada horror stories?
.......
I just moved here a little less than a year ago. I had to ask my bf wtf the noises coming out of the trees was then. I thought it was birds. ; ; There aren't Cicadas in Colorado (at least not the part I'm from).
I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate bugs. ; ;
Well I guess this means you're coming to see me a lot this summer Aly. I'm not messing with plagues. Ganbatte!
Can I come too???
