One was here at my office, and involved me and another "gentleman".I walked into the building where the guys was waiting for me. He jumps out and puts his hands on me, saying he'll kill me. I'm thinking to myself it's too early for this shit. I walk past him and he grabs me and turns me around trying to drive him his point that he'll fucking kill me...I tell him he's not doing a very good job of trying and walk away. This is of course an HR issue, so I dial them up and tell them about Mr. Crabby. The cops show up, the building security is there in drones, and within 15 minutes the Technical Shared Services VP is on the phone with me telling me I am doing the right thing....

Now, the point is that while this idiot was flying off the handle, approximately 10 other people from the office were entering the building and just passing us by, trying not to look or get involved. The security guy was staring right at us and did nothing. This was a different scenario but similar in nature. People just don't want to get involved.

Just because your left Jenuo without oils and prism powders and got aggro doesn't mean that Bob from accounting has to drop sneak and invis to cast.

Naw I just threw it out back.

In all seriousness, to chime in as devils advocate, how often do you guys pay attnetion to whats going on around ya? I mean Vondoom, people around you probably didn't notice till after the yeleld "Fuck you" and drove off.

And Sneaky, how long after the crazy fucker grabbed ya did the confrentation last?. I mean it's one thing for a guy to get in your face, but it was another when he grabbed ya.

And just to futher prove my point, you both stepped up when people need ya. I know I have as well, so it not like it doesn't happen.

Just throwing out the oppisite view point

HELL NO! Gas is WAY too expensive to waste on scum like that!

The look on their face is more than worth the $1 of gas you waste.

Confrontations don't usually last all that long, right?
This was no exception, but I'd say a minute or so...The time doesn't matter in this case, as I cited the 10 people that strolled by, some literally hiding their faces. And the security guard gets fucked paid to keep the place safe...He did nothing but stare right at us. The guy's threats were clearly audible up and down the hallway, and from a distance, you could see what he was doing, or at least not mistake the body language in any way.

The building security later asked me if I'd like an escort to my car, or perhaps I should change my schedule to avoid the guy.
I told them I am not scared of the guy and I will scrap with the guy in front of the security office if it comes to it. I told them I wasn't looking for trouble, and requested that they do their job and handle pricks like that. Sorry but I don't change just because some idiot assaulted me. Threats? Fuck you. Poking me in the chest and grabbing me? Fuck you. Throwing down? I'd have turned his face into burger, and that would have been the end of it. If I bother to start, I sure as shit am going to let it all vent on the motherfucker till I'm good and satisfied with the beating.

What else...
HR actually asked me what I'd like to do about it.
I said, "How about you do whatever it is that HR does to people that assault other people?"
...Blank stares
...
So I tell them that the guy had a bad day and definitely overreacted and took the "law" into his own hands. I don't want to ruin the guy's life over it. After all, he didn't actually take any swings and I never felt in danger or anything. It's just that if I were to do that, I could expected to be punted out of this company...And the bastard is still here. HR just let it happen.

It's so fucking pathetic, and shit like this happens all the time, all over the country.

The reason people didn't help is probablly becuase they either saw you standing there or they figured someone else would help.... diffusion of responsibility is big when figuring out whether to get involved or not...

It really just boils down to most people being a bunch of pussies.
Calling it anything else, just lumps you in with the pussies.

If someone's berserk enough to attack a woman in broad daylight, the vast majority of people are gonna avoid bringing that wrath down upon themselves. You can call it being a pussy, as much as anyone else could say the opposite is naive and foolish.

A person attacking another in broad daylight is a good sign that the attacker is not concerned with normal social issues at that time, and is acting out in a self defeating way. If the person cares so little about repricusions towards themselves, what makes you think that little switch, in the back of our minds, that stops us from making a killing blow in a fight is functioning properly in them?

Agreed. Where is the quandry in some guy kicking a chick across a concrete driveway and throwing a damn object at her while she's down? Where's the gray area in some weirdo accosting someone inside a place of business and espousing death threats audible throughout the entire first floor of a building?

Certainly senarios such as these are Police matters, but Police cannot be everywhere at once. We have a responsibility as members of a civilized, I use that term very loosley, society to act in opposition of things that are universally accepted as wrong. I'm not eluding to this policy on a global scale, world conflict is another subject altogether, just on a local scale, nor am I condoning vigilanteism.

Someone asked earlier, Darthyoda I think, if I notified Police and dumped the AM/PM video logs. The answer is no on both accounts. The damage to my vehicle was not to MY vehicle per-say as I was driving my company truck. I notified my employer of the dent, and he didn't care. The incident took place on AM/PM's property, and I was no victim, that puts the legal ball in AM/PM's court as well as the girl with the big ta-ta's court. Should either of them see fit to persue legal involvment that's their business, not mine.

I'm quite certain the girl emerged from that bathroom, and immediatley secured transportation right back to the dude and gave him a nice sympathy fuck for saying whatever it is she said that drove him to toss her around like a rag-doll.

As I mentioned before, there is a major difference in getting involved in something that would most certainly end up bad for you versus stepping in to help and getting involved. Sometimes these things require the use of force, sometimes they don't.

btw - wouldn't it be cool if you were getting your ass kicked and people just turned away?

If the dude was big enough to kick my ass, I fear for the average Joe that would try to interveine.

It will rarely work out in your faor to interveine in matters beteen couples directly. Bringing in some form of actual authrity is the best best for people who want to help. How fucking lame would it be if the OP were to get summons to court tomorrow for defendng that girl, only to learn that the girl is acting as a witness for her boyfriend to confirm it was infact the OP who hit her boyfriend. Of course the whole situation is bullshit and fucked up, but thats the reality these days. The boyfriend could easily convince the girl that their relationship problems would be fixed if they could get some money out of a lawsuit filed against her rescuer (his assailant, as the story would be told).

People are fucked up these days, especially women that don't call the cops and leave at the first instance of this, or similar behavior. The OP doesn't make any mention of wether the girl even cried out for help at all, but I'd be willing to bet she didn't...

I agree. What you did was the right thing to do. You tried to reason with him even after you dodged his first punch and yet kept your cool. Then did the right thing as he continued to attack you. I see absolutly nothing wrong with how things went down here. I probably would of done the same thing. I'm a very laid back guy and it takes a lot to tick me off but one thing that enrages me more than anything are women abusers or rapists. I can't stand them. Taking advantage of an innocent woman shows just how cowardly that person is. I'm talking about women as an average. I am aware that there are individual women out there that can handle themselves pretty well. I'm still shocked that no one else stepped in. 12 or so people vs 1 guy is favoriable odds to me.

My hat comes off to you vondoom. Glad to hear somebody had the balls to do something.
