im thinking about leveling a new job. But im not sure what i want to level. these are the ones ive considered so far:

MNK: Just seems like a fun job, and I think i a good pair of Knuks for high level are indra Gatares good for exping with?

NIN: Already at lv37, but having lved PLD 1st i hate NINs cause of the whole PLD > NIN fued

WHM: Casue im so damn good at cureing people when im not tanking on PLD. downside is a dont get to kills stuff

SAM: Also already 37, WS are fun, already have Soboro, but slow invites?


I dunno thes are just options im considering wht do yall think?



current merits include 2 STR, 3 Crit+ 2 enmity+, 3 hp+, 4 sword, 5 axe, 3 sheild PLD merits and WAR merits
 
Pretty sure most go [Retaliators/Cross-Counters -> Destroyers] or [TM Hooks (+1/2) -> Feral Fangs or Vishnu's -> Destroyers].


However, you seem more like a SAM person, in my opinion.
 
Samurai's invite rate isn't too bad usually, especially when people remember how insane they are with a soboro.

Monk is a lot of fun, but indra's haven't been great weapons since destroyers came out 2-3 years ago. Wagh Bagh's are better than indra's. Monk doesn't have any real endgame use though, outside of salvage.
 
You could always go BST y'know....you wouldn't have to worry about LFP for extended periods of time, you could solo while LFP on BST, and take the pt invite if one comes to you.

*ninja edit* - Oh, I didn't catch the part about those jobs being listed as the ones you were considering. MY BAD! Out of that list, I'd go SAM. SAM is insane! I'm 37 SAM now and it rocks, especially with THF subbed. Once you hit 50, change back to WAR sub, equip the Soboro, and let the Tachi: Enpis fly!

Sam/war > sam/thf in every way possible unless your tank is retarded. Especially after 30 when you have berserk.
 
Seems like everyone is leveling SAM as of late. Hell I'm going too. o.o

But yeah, SAM is a fun job. Or if you want a suggestion BLU to put your sword merits to good use.
 
Sam is fun. i'm personally leveling sam next once I get the gear/SJ lined up and/or brd to 75.
/rng is actually a viable sj for it for when you wanna have some variety once you get sidewinder should you get slightly bored with the grinding and how you play sam. Your pld and war have archery skill so it's possible to merit some archery for that ahead of time.

Your war is almost never used in sky over your pld when everyone has a chioce in the matter so being able to make them actually have to make a descision between what's best for the ls would give you more leeway.

Besides. Anyone that gets whm past lv 70 locks themself into that role and never gets to use anything else again in any endgame period. I sincerly doubt that you wish to never be able to touch pld or war again.
 
fuck all those choices and lvl DRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but really all those jobs have fun & not so fun elements. but are you looking to lvl a new job that you can use in endgame or is fun to play as?
 
Playin to have fun thats why im on FFXI anyway :P

I only play whm about half the time. If your linkshell barely has any healers you'll be locked into the role, but that goes for any job. If your linkshell is well balanced then you have a lot more variety in what you can play. White mages are just more common to be locked in because so many people level the job that hate it or just don't level it at all.

Don't want to be a whm(or any job) the whole time? Get a couple more in your linkshell.
 
I've been thinking about a 2nd job (looks around for the 4 horsemen) myself, Claud. Based on what you've said, and based on what I know of you, I think you'd like either NIN or MNK. Don't forget that BLU is a very powerful job and can also make use of your sword merits.

Gregedor surprised me when he levelled WHM. I didn't think someone normally on the DD side of things would enjoy it so much. Who knows, you may find it to your liking as well.
 
When in doubt, level DRG.

you'll remind yourself how much you hate lfp
 
Level Corsair. There's not to many of them, and they're awesome.

WHM gets to kill stuff... Just not in exp parties.

When solo with a bunch of skeletons about, go for your life.

Edit: Might want to get rid of enmity merits though... I don't think they're fantastic for DD jobs either <_<;

I have Indra Katars and Hades Sainti on pup. Sainti clearly outdamage the Katars. Tripple attack doesn't occur much. Anyway when i farm on PUP, the puppet do more damage than me with Indra equipped, and i do more dmg tham him with hades Sainti.
