I just got to lvl 52 in clothcraft and I read somewhere that you need ALOT of silk cloth to get to lvl 69. (somehwere around 70stacks) also it appears that unless i can find cacoons for 250gil or less, or if i farm them myself, i will be losing about 1.5million gil with the current prices of materials. is there anyway to get to 69 and break even or perhaps not lose millions of gil? anyone high lvl cloth crafters out there that can lend some advice? any help is much appreciated. thanks

Some advice:

Wait for the price of silk thread to drop. That is the ONLY way you're going to get to 69 without losing that much money.

I haven't reached "Silk status' yet in Clothcraft but I have read quite a bit on what is needed in the levels to come. The best advice I can offer to you is to either buy crawler cocoons and make the silk thread/cloth yourself or go out there and farm your silk. My take on it is if it's within your ability to farm it then do so. Yes it's boring....Yes it takes time but it saves you from being a victim to these crazy up and down AH prices.

You dont even need to farm silk. Farm something else and use the sales from that to buy your silk cloth, or HQ some lower level cloth items. I know a lot of people who are caught up in trying to HQ high level equipment but there are a ton of players out there that are starting new jobs or characters that need good quality low level gear. There's gil to made there!

Silk is never going to drop.

I'd have to agree with Veli, theres too much demand for it for the price to drop.

I'd farm for silk if you have a thief. It might take a while, but if you want to get past the silk road, thats the only way to make it without losing gil.

Actually there is a way to get through most of the silk road and break even or make a bit of profit. When I was playing this game I would be making a nice little profit and skilling up at the same time. You need to focus on core ingrediants and not the intermediate/final product. Too expensive that way. It just takes a lot of time to research recipes, location of key ingrediants and crafting schedules to maximize your profit. If you want to avoid the money pit, then it will take a lot of patience.
