I'm soloing as my 2nd character 18 galka mnk in the dunes whiel lfp. I go 2 hours killing 72-140xp enemies, dinging 19 and getting 5000 xp in the process without much effort, infact I was goofing off with LS members a good portion of the time, but that's beside the point.

I'm now 19 and finally get an invite froma 17 warrior. It's almost funny because I got invites without a SJ period in 10-20 minutes, oh well. The warrior happens to be the jerkoff this post is about, nicalapegus.

So we all meet up at whitesands beach, someone asks everyone's highest. He was 30ish something job, high enough to know better, low enough to still be a fool. I was rather excited everyone was 30-64 on their main though for a dunes party.

Well first off this party had more potienal than we got out of it, but I wasn't complaining. After a 90 damage combo to a inc tough pug and getting chain 2: ,110,140ish,192 xp I was satisfied for a dunes party. Although no thanks to this jackass. He hit for 20 damage TOPS with a GAX, and took more damage than me, funny he's the tank too. Obviously he didn't bother to use food for this party. How do you hit for 20 with GAX, how can a mnk get hit for less damage with less defense PLUS a warrior has defense bonus at lvl 10, so obviously he's no the sharpest knife in the draw, but whatever, I don't expect a whole lot in dunes. My fists were hitting harder than his GAX swings...per fist.

So after that chain 2 during the downtime the following conversation occurs.

Nicalapegus-do Skillchain <Shield Break> <Shoulder tackle> : <Impaction>

Myself- I don't see that SC on my chart, it's a very well known chart.

Nicalapegus- well then its Shoulder tackle---> Shield Break then

http://www.adennak.com/renkei10.pdf - my SC chart.

Myself- I guess...But don't you think that'll produce a very weak SC not worth giving up combo for? (I'm avoiding calling him a gimp here, you can't just go out and say that to the party leader)

Nicalapegus- you've got a bad chart. (Obviously as you can see I don't, but what a rude comment to make, especially since he has a small amount of experience in this game)

Myself-Well lets prove it then, I'm sure my chart isn't wrong, lets try the SC? (Refering to his original SC suggestion)

In his silence I offer up some suggestions

Myself- Well I'm looking into my chart, how about focus on this SC. Sam with polearm(he was using polearm) do <Double thurst> ---> <Slice> (we had a drk) for <Distortion>.

The SC he offered up even if it was real would suck anyway, so why focus on it.

Myself- Or have Samurai switch to GKT, we can do Hobakn-->shield break for impaction if you're heartset on impaction, that'd be a far more effective SC.

Myself- Or Hobakn--> combo(with the damage I got on my combos this would be practical)

Nicalapegus-...You are coming off very rude (Here he was for some reason offended I suggested some other possible real and good SCs)

Nicalapegus-you're already a monk, you shouldn't be arguing (Arguing?)

Ok this line I have a problem with, what kind of fucking lowlife thing is this to say. Because I'm choosing to level a less desired job, I can't offer suggestions that will probably benefit the party? This is the same as a bard or ranger throwing their weight around in a party, no person has the right to be an asshole because they're X job. They may get away with it, but it's not a right.

Before I can reply I'm booted from the party with zero warning

What's wierd is I was doing almost half the parties damage output out of a 4 DD party. The drk's scythe hit for 10 a swing, warrior was 10-20 a swing, polearm was alright, and I hit 15-25 per fist, I was also tanking without voke because the warrior was too gimp to hold it off me.

And funny when I did have hate, I just popped dodge and evaded quite often, one time 3 hits in a row, not only that but I took about 5-10 damage less per hit than the warrior despite the fact he had <Defense Bonus> job trait at his level and I didn't. If anything, you'd think the galka mnk with a 90 damage combo would be deserving of the parties "weight", however I wasn't the moron party leader with little knowledge so shit out of luck I was.

Reasons I offer new SC suggestions instead of going with his.

1. The original was not a SC.
2. Any SC with shield break from a warrior hitting for 10-20 damage can't be very good, why force it?
3. Any SC ending with shoulder tackle is pathetic when I can do 60-90 damage consistantly to an inc tough pugil with combo. I'm not one of those gimp dune mnks with no str + at all, no food..Galka race,str+8+4(food)+attack bonus+25%
4. I might've agreed if we had lightning MB, however we had no blm, and 2ndly lightning(impaction would be lignting) is lvl 21 blm.

Although number 4 wasn't the main reason, it was 2 and 3, they'd make piss poor 20 damage WS finishers with 5-10 SC damage. I'd rather have my combo or another SC since hsi suggestions were so junky. And then booted without warning and lack of a good reason.

Theme- You can't be helpful around stupid people, especially when it's helpful advice put forth without attacking the other person.

Nicalapegus don't expect to get far in this game. If you don't understand SC mechincs completely, don't act like you're the master of them if you have limited experience. It's one thing to know someone and try and share your knowledge, it's another when you're a clueless moron acting like you know alot. You're intolerent little bastard, I'm glad you couldn't find a DD after you booted me and had to wait around in selbina. I hope you got another person like you guys hitting for 10 damage with a 2nd handed weapon because you're too cheap to even use meat jerky.

Normally no, but this was someone with a job in their 30s, and everyone else had a job 30ish-64. I was actually ok with the xp for the dunes, what bothered me was the throwing of "weight" and avoidence of helpful politely put advice, this is behavior I see more during the mid and high levels.

People in the dunes are normally more willing to listen to others in my experience because we're all playing jobs we're new to at that level, so people get offended less easily. Once one gets to a certain level, they harden up and stop listening completely because they become use to a 'certain' way of doing things.

Yeah but I remember getting my war to level 30 with a level 12 monk sub... so I usually dont expect too much from level 30's as I was really newbish then as well. I mostly really shaped up when levling paladin and focused on keeping my gear updated (from level 1 and up) I wasnt always the smartest to begin with but I learned. People who get to 30 still have a LOT to learn about the game.

I think the main thing to look for is if they have an advanced subjob, or rank 4+. Anything less than that and it means they're still very new to the game, and probably don't know better on just about anything. (sad to say, a NIN I partied with today wanted hot shot -> blade: chi or some crap, which SCed for 100 less than me closing with SA Fast Blade. "He didn't want to hafto use his tools to get hate back".)

Think it's all the better you disbanded, since letting people who don't do their job well reach high levels = bad...though I also know that's not the point of the post.

Sad to say, too many people have this self-esteem issue where they get off being this mighty leader, and they don't care wether they do it badly or not. But some famous guy once said, "a good leader knows when it's time for he himself to be led"..

Err, to clarify on that, I think the NIN was like rank 3, which would backup on on my opinion of anyone not being rank 4+ (etc) still being very-new and wanting dumb junk, like being in the SC just because they like being in the SC.

Ya it was probably the self esteem issue, too bad he had to abuse leadership power to gain some. He's clearly wrong so he boots the person that's right, real good person

I didn't disband, I was kicked when I politely suggested some new SCs, without warning. Some people have this giant stick up their ass.

Well that's everything, I'm going just let this die. Watch out if this poor leader invites you, and tell him to use some food while you're at it.

Yeah, but rank is no longer a good indication of how experienced someone is. Since people can get their hand held up to rank 5, probably even rank 6 if they worked on it. He was definitely wrong to boot you, but then I doubt he'd learn how to be a good leader if he kicked you for something like that.

Below 50 people seem to have a stick up their ass no matter where you party :(

case in point I just got out of this pt - war/thf (me) pld rng brd whm blm, all rank 5+ and pt was 43-45

The whm wanted to call sc at first - wanted to do rumble crawlers and helm beetles (wtf? at 43-45???) and was overall just the 'i told you so' type of whm whenever something randomly worked out her way. Half this game is f**king rolling dice with pretty moving pictures anyway so I dont particularly give a shit.

Bah whatever - I need to static any job I ever want to lvl.

Speaking of that I'm looking for a good bard somewhere 15-30 (can catch up fast) - I have an interesting Idea for a static :P

Oh and I don't expect anything less from "In demand" jobs pre 50 but total asshattery

level i think has nothing to do with it... It's the kind of person they are irl. people can be leveling their first job through dunes and act like they've played the game for years, yet no nothing. Some people can be rank 5 with a lvl 60 character and still don't know anything but they love to take charge and act like they know what they're doing... It's just people having an Ego Trip, that's all. Or probably people who IRL have nothing to look forward and use the game to act 'big.'

Being a leader should be about looking at what's best for the party you're in charge. You should always be open to suggestions because you never know when you'll hear something new from your party members that can help you in the later future. Especially for dunes.. if you can find a new technique or etc for getting through the area smoothly in a handful of hours than I'm all ears. Because dunes and qufim are imho 2 of the places that you wanna get out of ASAP.

I probably would have left the party anyways if i was in your shoes because they don't deserve having you in that party. What thay guy should have done is try out and experiment with your suggestions and see what works. But all well, the guy is in his own world... where that is...

Well, ok, Jagster, should be "it's for the better that you -left-".. sorry =P

In response to *points to quote* that...in a way, yeh, it can be dependant on how the person is IRL, but experience with the game (thus said, very low levels/rank = little experience, and no, I'm not referring to TNL ¬.¬") still plays a huge factor. You won't magically know that SCs are based on the closing hit's damage, and you also won't know which weaponskills do how much damage. Won't know what SCs monsters are weak to because you won't know what the monster's weak to, etc etc.

There's a difference between people who play crappy leader due to lack of experience and people who play crappy leader due to plain stupidity. Not a big difference, just one's sortof easier to correct than the other.

I would agree - but I also don't think that it's just luck that I've only run into a handful of these people post 50

I had nothing else to add until today.

So I got to the dunes as my at the time 19 galka monk, I get an invite and the party is actually pretty good and a fun group. On the way to gob ally at D7 we pass a group with who else in it, Nicalepegus or whatever the hell his name is.

Without be saying a single word, I'm hearing "Look it's that whiney war again" Nic ><" and other comments. Without me saying a single thing my party wanted to camp ontop of him just to piss him off for a minute. It's good to know it was him and not me :D .

 Good times jag, see you in Qufim. 8)
