The new CoD will b out soon enough, and it looks pretty amazing. I was really excited before CoD4 was released because it was a modern era CoD, and when I first heard about CoD WaW I told myself I would stick to CoD4. After seeing some trailers and reading some articles on it, I really want this game.

What do some of you other CoD4 players think of the new CoD?

I prefer modern era to WW2 era. You can only do so many battles during that time and even with newer nicer graphics the whole fighting against the nazi's gets a little old to me.

I think it was a mistake for them going back to the same old worn out WWII formula. Don;t get me wrong I love some of the WWII games but after seeing what they could do in the modern era with CoD4 I think they are really taking a step backwards here.

I only play CoD games for multiplayer. With that bein' said, I prefer the Treyarch multiplayer system/style/methods, it doesn't really go to shit over time like IW's. With that bein' said though, I'm sick of WWII games. Until they do somethin' new, like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saboteur_(2008_video_game) at least. I'll probably let this one slide and pick up Treyarch's James Bond game instead. They seem to be takin' multiplayer there pretty serious and the game is on the CoD4 engine so it's basically CoD4 - James Bond style. Looks badass and they have a fine goal of surpassin' Goldeneye 64.

Well, whether it's better or worse than CoD4, the majority will be playing it online, so I'll get it.

By the way, the hell you put it in this forum for? Not see the General Gaming one?

I'll get it. WWII is so much more interesting than Modern day warfare. Just hope they can give it some originality, I don't want to see CoD2 with better graphics.

Prepare for CoD2 with better graphics.

And Flamethrowers.

I was very disappointed when I first learned they weren't continuing with the Modern timeline, but I have hopes that Call of Duty 6 will.

Infinity Ward made 4, Treyarch made World at War and Infinity Ward is making 6 (to be released next year), so hopefully they will stick with it.

I'll get World at War, but my expectations are very low.

How much originality can you add to history, really? That's like sayin', "I hope the Titanic doesn't sink this time."

I couldn't care less if I kill Nazis, Russians, Aliens or Midgets. All that matters to me is the gameplay, so I won't condemn this game unless that sucks.

That being said, more interested in Gears and Resistance anyway. Resistance primarily for the multiplayer - and trying to cut back spending so will probably skip this game unless it turns out really really good.

I don't see how expectations for a call of duty game can be low, every single game has been nothing short of pure, unadulterated awesome. I'd prefer they stuck with modern warfare, or even go to futuristic warfare, but the game is still going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

There are two main reasons why my expectations are low.

1. Treyarch developed World at War. All the best Call of Duty installments belong to Infinity Ward (1, 2, 4).

2. It's World War II. Again. For the 5th time in one franchise. I'm so sick and tired of World War II, let it die already. Why not try Korea/Vietnam? Some people might think it's a little too sensitive, but it's Call of Duty. You know they'll sell. The only redeeming factor in my opinion is that one campaign is set in the pacific, which I've never played before (I don't even know if another WW2 game has done that).

Call of Duty 4 was just so incredibly awesome I can't imagine anything from the World War II genre that could equal it. Here's hoping Infinity Ward delivers with another Modern or possibly a Futuristic installment next year.

Regardless of my bitching, unless World at War gets horrendous reviews I'll still buy it. lol

Pretty sure one of the medal of honor games was set in the pacific, may even have been called "pacific assault" or something along those lines i don't remember, i seem to recall it being quite a decent game, but nothing to go out and find if you havn't already played it.

As for CoD, i've loved every game in the series, and i wouldn't even be that disapointed if this is just a remade version of 2 with better graphics, because it was by far the best imo.

There are also a lot of flight sim games set in the Pacific confrontation and a few RTS games. However, at the current time, you're better off puttin' a WWII in the Pacific front out. WWII as a whole is played out but if you're goin' to do it at least do the side of WWII that only has 20-30 games instead of 100-200 games (Numbers are guesses but probably close to true).

I like CoD games a lot. So I know i'll be giving it a try :)

I'm fairly sure I read too that IW is gonna stick with the modern shit and treyfail is gonna be WW2. Then they will release games every other year. They may have changed that but thats what I heard sometime after CoD4 came out.

Heh, if you think Treyarch deserves to be called "Treyfail" you obviously haven't experianced any other CoD game other than 4...

What are you talking about, CoD 1 was fucking awesome. I played that shit all the time back in the day on the PC.
