Like it's something to make you feel elite? Lincon Park (Sp?) is no less mainstream than Britney Spears these days... Neither is Metallica.
This is interesting, because you cite bands you find to be interesting or perhaps talented. Yet you go on to question why anyone would give a shit that someone would like some other artists. Hmmm, I never saw the additional posters get into a pissing match that you didn't start. You should remember not to write checks your butt can't cash. Then you come up with "dozens" of people you've met who all believe something you don't, and that somehow makes it appropriate for you to come off elite, yet say you're not, but keep telling others they are? Which is why I prefer phish. I once watched the perform live when I lived in Ohio. That night, a huge tornado tore a walmart near my apartment in half down the middle. The way phish was playing with the torrential downpoar, I could have swore they controlled it all. Stage and lighting is great, but I've never seen a band perform with the true intensity of nature before. Now THAT'S good shit.

The one thing you say that makes sense (once it's taken out of context and away from your other remarks, and used just as a standalone statement) is, "Music and art have always been about feeling more than technicality." I think most people would agree with that. What you need to realize is that YOU bashed other forms of music. YOU came off as elite. Then YOU started to blame others for defending their tastes by calling them elite. Then YOU called me stupid. YOU just got Pwnt.
