For those of you wanting a specific color of chocobo I have a pair of each color.

Unfortunately I am on very irregularly so you can message me on here and I'll try to get back to you when I can or you can contact anyone in my ls "Wickedwayz" and they can get them from me for you.

Just wanting to spread the wealth.

Sean.

I have been trying for a colord bird since it started . I am on my 8th bird still yellows. I even had 2 colord parents give me a yellow bird I think the game hates me.

I would like to raise a blue one bu thonestly any color but yellow would make me happy =^.^=

didn't some guy just leave his egg for like 2 months and it turned blue?

im not on the ball of all this chocobo raising shit i have been gone for 6months :(

I can try giving you a pair of blue chococards Aerdrie, I've got a blue male and female I've raised.

Amusingly enough, one of the cards I gave Aerdrie a couple months back came from Pudytat.

We dazzle them with the reds and greens, then the yellows swoop in and peck out their eyes...

I've said too much.

Have any of you guys gotten any colored ones with the gallop or cantor already learned? This whole raising a chocobo with traits is a LONNNNGG process. Care to share your secrets?

I just really want a black or red chocobo.

Probably the best way to get a racing choco with traits (digging choco with traits is easy) is to first train up its physical stats to first class (walk as chick, carry packages as adolescent and adult), then switch to dig for treasure (which will quickly raise discernment and moderately lower endurance) until discernment is average.

Spam stories until it learns Gallop/Canter, then adjust care plan to fine-tune your end result of endurance and discernment (noting that discernment is also useful for racing, but endurance will affect normal riding time too) to your liking. If your stats aren't where you want them by day 63 or whatever, when care plans stop doing much of anything, adjust them after that with chocobucks training.

Note that there's a limit to the sum of your stats (rather like 60+ craft skills), so you can't just raise *all* the stats up high. You can have two max and two low, you can have one max, one high, one moderate, one low, you can have two high and two moderate, etc.

For more details, the best source of info on choco raising that I've found is FFXIclopedia's forums (specifically the choco raising/racing forum, which is in the crafting forums section). If anyone has another good source of info, I'd be happy to learn about it.

Unless you steal a gold chocobo from the GM's!

If my current chocobo gets made into dinner too (read: turns out yellow), I may just hit one of you guys up for some breeding cards ... esp. if it can come with Canter pre-learned.

I just really want a black or red chocobo.

My current chocobo, RedGirl, has Gallop and Treasure Finder. I started raising her as a mental bird, taught her the abilities, and then switched her to physical training. She should hit First-Class strength and endurance tomorrow or the next day, at which point I'll retire her to be my full-time mount.

I have an egg for a green chocobo, and I plan to teach it Gallop and Canter for racing. Green is the only color I don't have so far.

Dyes.

They last forever.

I dyed my bird as soon as possible when racing was implemented to see how long it would last. I was expecting a conquest tally would set it back to it's normal yellow.

3 months later, it's still red.

Hopefully, they'll put a new color in that can only be achieved via genetic color breeding, ala FF7. Maybe White? Gold wouldn't really be that distinguishable from Yellow unless it had specular highlighting. Make it a 5% chance, but both parents have to have the combined genetics for the 4 existing special colors. IE: Mother has Blue/Black blood, Father has Red/Green. or Father has Green/Blue/Black and Mother has Red. Also make the color uninheritable, so you can't just mate that Bo to pass it on. That'd keep it pretty rare.

I personally gave up on breeding after my 10th attempt to get a male. Nothing like wasting 40 days with no results. I wasn't even trying for a colored male. Just something with a penis to go with my First Class physical Female.

I think the trigger for dye wearing off is either recharging your whistle or re-registering your choco to it. (Forget which.)

I have a yellow bird that has gallop and canter the ablites part was pretty easy I just can not for the life of me get a colord bird :(

My chocobo just hatched, I took it out for a walk,
and got a CS to take a choco home, and automaticly
I have auto-regen... Can I get rid of an ability?

I don't think I've ever heard of removing an ability before.

You had the ability when it hatched because one of the parents had it, the only way to learn abilities is to read to the chocobo. My current chocobo started with bore from one of the parents which had bore and burrow.
