Colour Display Problem

Hello there, gotten some nice advice/assistance in the past from a select few in these parts, figured I'd place my request for assistance here too, and see if anything comes of it.

Was hoping some local computer gurus here could assist me to confirm whether or not I have narrowed down the problem properly, or if there's something I should try that I haven't yet that might further isolate what is wrong (or even better, fix it entirely, but somehow I'm leaning on the side of that I just need new hardware).

What it boils down is that my monitor is not displaying any red input. Essentially I'm getting my B and G, but no R, making my entire screen a blue tint that is extremely annoying/problematic. This occured this morning, I sat down at the computer, was using it per normal, and then there was a slight flicker-effect on the screen and the blue tint came about.

I know it's not just the monitor, hook it up to any other computer, and the monitor works fine, colour display is perfectly normal. Hook up a different monitor to my computer, blue tint problem is there for all the world to see, different cords used to connect to the problem computer. With that simple test, it doesn't appear to be any cord/monitor issue.

I then tried to remove and reupdate my drivers thinking that could be an issue, as it's done worse things in the past. No dice, neither removing drivers completely nor re-updating got rid of this blue tint. When I go into the nvidia settings and mess with the colour settings, moving the red bar % in any shape or form doesn't a thing to the colour display. It's literally as if no input of red is happening. Did the usual unplug all the wires, cleaned out the dust everywhere, not that there was much since I do it rather routinely, replug everything back in snugly. Same problem is present. No change at all.

My guess is that the problem is that it's my video card - well if you call it that anyways. My computer has onboard video (yes yes I know, ick), nvidia 6100 something or other. Think it's safe to assume that the video support is crapped out (or the plug/connector) and the main (only?) solution is to get a new one? Think it could be something else? Mostly looking for confirmation or other peoples thoughts to bounce ideas off more than anything before I make any firm conclusions. I may be overlooking some other possibilities, but I doubt it.

I'd switch in a video card to test out if that fixes it, but have no spare ones, nor anyone in a reasonable distance able to let me use theirs temporarily to test out that it's the issue. I'd love to be wrong, as I really don't have money to spare on a new video card (or I would of just went to buy one, since I'm long overdue anyways for an upgrade...however, barely could afford my textbooks, not sure where I'm gonna come up with money for this). That being said, it's kind of hard to program one of my assignments when looking at code with this blue tint gives me a huge headache after about 10 minutes.

Anyways, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it, and if not, understandable and thanks anyways.

Edit: Got a temporary loan from a bud of mine, got a new card. Everything works again, figured I'd give a heads up in case anyone who reads this comes across a similar problem and wonders if the issue is that. Thanks to anyone who gave it any thought.

Well, even though the issue is resolved now, if anyone ever actually uses the search function:

Steps you can take.
1. Always check for lose cables first. (Or corroded/broken connector pins)
2. Reseat the graphics card (supposing you have one - if not go to step 3.)
3. Check your RGB channel settings. How to do this will vary card to card.
4. Reinstall graphics driver.
5. Run your computer over with a large vehicle.
6. Buy a new computer.

Steps 5 and 6 should be executed in sequence.
