Just picked this up a few days ago pre-order. I haven't played a C&C game in forever. I just finished mission 4 and I'm liking what I see so far. They put a lot of the elements from C&C Generals in, but a lot of the classic things like building structures/units and tiberium harvesting are still there.

The fun part is getting used to all the old controls again. :wacko:
 
I <3 C&C so much. I can't wait to get C&C 3 but I need to really upgrade my computer :\ I wish they'd make a new C&C Renegade <3

By the way, why exactly DID Westwood sell to EA? C&C series is on the top 20 of biggest money makers of all time from what I've read :P (Mario is in first XD)
 
I'm going to get this soon, hopefully it'll be as good as it looks.

Westwood was a publicly-traded company were they not? EA buys 51% of your shares, there's not much you can do. I can't remember who was publishing for Westwood back in the day but maybe they got bought out instead.

It is. This game is pretty sweet, I'm on GDI 8 I think. The superweapons are awesomely overpowered, veteran units are twice the threat of their rookie counterparts, and unit balance is strong. I'm incredibly excited to try out the new race and see what they're capable of, but gonna wait until I finish the GDI & Nod campaigns.

The cutscenes though... the acting is pretty shitty. Plus the chicks aren't half as hot as they were in the Red Alert 2 cutscenes, but they'd be hard pressed to beat the combination of Athena Massey and Kari Wuhrer. Acting quality is definitely poor though, it feels like they only tried each scene a couple of times before saying "yeah that's good enough". Aside from that, no complaints so far.
 
I played the demo and thought it was amazing. As of now im at 67.3% of the 7.46 Gb file on uTorrent. I never like donline because i never was good enough to compete.

15 hours... Its been 3 days and it finally sped up to a clock stopping 54.9kB/s download!
 
What kind of grapical power is needed for this one? Dont wanna miss out on this one like i did Supreme Commander because i dont have the latest cards -_-
 
im running it full on Nvidia 7600GT and 1 gb of RAM and Intel Core 2 Duo E6300.
 
I loved the earlier C&C games, so this one will be interresting. I quite hoenstly think they ruined the last one a bit, but I'll still try this one out.
 
It's not half as taxing on the computer as Supreme Commander was. C&C3 I have maxed out, including AA - SC I had to leave AA off and was still getting bogged down in big fights.

I wish my DL would go that fast. If i dont do anything else other then just have BT running, i still only get around 10kB/s and i'm on DSL wtf! Anyone know how to bump up that rate?
 
I usually have to leave my computer on for 3-4 days to download games. It's a normal abnormality and one of the reasons I buy the big titles - I have very little patience for cases like that. I need game X and I need it now!
 
I have to really upgrade my computer for this :| and I didn't know Westwood was a public company.. EA is such shit.. I don't like most of their games, they seem half assed.. and C&C Commanders was such shit :\ didn't deserve the C&C title. BAH! Ah well... if C&C 3 is really as good as the old C&C games I'll be a happy camper :P
 
You say the acting is shitty? Is the acting done by real people? I've never playedany C&C games accept one for Playstation. There was a game; Act of War that had real actors, it was pretty well acted.
 
Yeah they're real actors. The main general for the GDI campaign is the same general from Starship Troopers... I can't remember his name but he had one metal arm in the movie.

C&C games (well, the ones I played) always had at least some real-actor cutscenes. C&C3 takes it a step further, everything from debriefing to mid-mission tips are provided by real actors. The acting just isn't quite as good as past C&C games, or any decent Hollywood movie.

I think my favorite cutscene ever was the final GDI campaign in the first C&C. General's sitting there at his table, scraggly hair, unbuttoned shirt, tie hanging off his collar, papers all over the desk. Looks up at you with tired eyes and says: "We found him. We found the bastard."

Or the final Allied cutscene for RA2 where the 2 babes both ask you to go to the celebratory dinner with them... cha-ching! God I'm glad my girlfriend doesn't read these boards.

The chick in GDI that gives you all of the mid-battle information and controls (the one who isn't Asian) bears a striking resembalance to one of the doctors on House. Maybe it's just me.
 
This game looks cool, I am very excited to try it out.
 
shit it slowed down, only got 5% while at school, 20 more hours left.

I WOULD foreward my ports buty last time i tried it fucked up my modem.
