Hello FFXIVCore members and visitors! Today we bring you a new feature we hope to roll out on a regular basis. We've talked about it behind closed doors for a long time, and we can finally bring you the Community Spotlight feature!
Disregard the rehashed image banner for now, we hope to have something unique the next time we put one of these out. Recently a number of videos have been posted to our forums, a few of which have caught our eye. As fate would have it, I was contacted out of the blue by the author of one just minutes after seeing the video for the first time. Now, learn a bit more about them yourself!
Almost Heroes is a social/event linkshell made up of a mix of hardcore and casual players of all ranks and races. The LS was formed by Archie Adams at collector’s edition launch last year and has grown into one of the top English speaking linkshells on Cornelia. The majority of our player base is between the ages of 25-35. Our main focus has been character progression as well as strengthening the relationships between our members. The main goal in forming the LS was to give its members a “home”, so to speak, as they progress through FFXIV.
Our current focus as a linkshell is to enjoy all the new 1.18 content and to gear up our members as much as possible. The majority of our LS has at least one rank 50 job so we’re running 1 to 2, R45 dungeon groups every night. We’ve downed Batraal multiple times and we’re working on getting the rest of our shell the kill, as well the drops each member wants. 1.18 has been a welcome addition since most of our members were just trying to kill time in between 1.17 and 1.18. In the future we plan on progressing through all the new content, together.
We might be a linkshell made up of players all across the US and the world but the majority of us have grown into really close friends. My work allows me to travel domestically as well as internationally so I’ve had the privilege to meet quite a few of my LS members in person. My members and I like to keep a real life photo thread on our LS website and we update it with pictures whenever we get together. As a matter of fact we’re planning an LS trip to Las Vegas sometime later this year. The strong relationships I’ve built with my LS members these past 10 months I consider the crowning achievement of my leadership.
