Are you learning Java in school? Are you learning C/C++? Looking for a well designed project beginning from scratch -- so much so there is no project yet decided upon?

Learning backend/bash programming and need experience with GUI development? Have experience with GUI programming but need more experience in base functionality coding? Learn with us!

---

I am graduating this fiscal school year - Spring 2009 baby! I want to begin an open source project in .NET using either C#.NET or VB.NET that takes all I have learned, and then some more, and applies it in some form or another to this project. I am looking for a moderately sized project. Nothing too large, but certainly nothing so small that a practical application can't be made.

Click the link in my signature and look for the usergroup.

No, this is personal project only.

I've taken a few courses... (sigh that was awhile ago when I graduated lol)

Depends on the type of program you're trying to build. To me it sounds like your trying to build a portfolio program to show your other programs lol

Plans to build it for the purpose of a portfolio... not really. If I needed it for a portfolio -- I would use it.

I personally want to improve my skills at designing the classes that go into a program. I figured I could see if people here wanted to learn as well.

If its something new to me or would keep me up to date with the code and programs i know now then shit, im up for it

Implemented Interfaces?
As per above have you abstracted data layers from their implementation?
Are you strong in the ways of object oriented approaches?
For something I am totally inept at: Are you practiced in the safe use of database connections for applications? Various methods of cleaning user input to prevent SQL injection?

Following strict typing guidelines etc...

I've dabbled with SQL, I think unfortunately my were mostly microsoft funded lol, they stuck on Access and work with databases and exportation that way,

and no, im not familiar with prevention of SQL injections. The closest I had to deal with that was an ASP based website.

It depends entirely on what the project would be.

I've got ideas but have not chosen -- partly I'm looking for about 3-4 people for the project and only 2 have shown interest so far.

I'm always interested in stuff that can get me more experience. I claim to be an expert in nothing though lol, and have never worked with others programming (for longer than a day or two anyways). I'm sure you know of two of my websites I've coded in the past =P So most of my experiance has to do with PHP and webstuff, including being wary of SQL injections. I also know C++ and and tend to learn things very quickly.

Info's too vague to say much more than I'm interested though =P

Depending on how you run your project, you have a team of people who work on it, or you are the main person and people send in patches to you; you should host your project on gGithub. The free account only lets the project lead to push into the hosted repo, but thats fine. Also, if a second person codes a lot on the project they could fork your project on github into one they control, and then they can tell you to pull changes from there instead of sending patches by email.
