Computer Question

no it wont. if the link for the product documentation is correct, the socket types are totally different. the socket for the processor is the PGA370 Socket. the socket on the MB is the Socket LGA 775. the sockets need to match. if they match, then everything is peachy.

honestly, you should really look for a MB and a processor that are the most recent. IE the most recent right now is the am2, am2+. this way, you wont have to really worry about upgrading for a while.

It says they're both LGA775 on the product pages, and the processor fits fine. Well, guess I'll just return the processor and get a p4 duo since it's only like 20 bucks more. I'm just kinda stumped, thanks anyways.

sorry, i diidnt see where it had said the socket type. normally they list it as "socket type" not package type. but ya, if it is the same, then it will work.

but still, i personally would go with the am2 socket...and i actually have already

regardless of what you get, just make sure the socket types match

Thanks for the help guys. I would get a better motherboard but I'm building this on not much money, haha. But yeah, called and getting a refund for this cpu, and just paying an extra 20 for one of the ones listed on the mobo page as supported. It's a bit faster anyways. Thanks again guys, guess it just didn't like this processor. :(
