Just bought a brand new PC and everytime I load up a game the mofo reboots. These are the specs:
Case: Coolmaster HAF-X
CPU: i7-950 3.06GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX470
RAM: A-DATA PC2-1600 DDR3
PSU: 1000W Thermaltake TR2
Mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
So whenever I load up say MW2, FFXIV or BFBC2 the thing just straight up reboots. Even if I try and run Windows Experience Index Test or GPU Stress tests. I dont think its an overheating issue because the card never even comes close to 70 degrees, my CPU is rolling about 35-40 and it reboots clean. When my old PC would overheat it would like shutoff, but not cleanly reboot.
Nothing shows up in event viewer and it doesnt BSOD, just turns off and turns back on. So what I'm not sure though is if its just a shitty card, or a problem with the PSU, either not getting it enough power or a faulty line or something like that.
I've used the newest Nvidia drivers (Both the 197.w/e and the 259.w/e) as well as the drivers that came with the card on CD and the ones installed by windows updates. They all fail. I've tried a clean Win7 with just the graphics drivers, and it failed, as well as having all the latest drivers for everything.
I mean as far as i can tell its just a bad card. I'm gonna run to Best Buy tomorrow and probably pick up an 5850 just to test it against it and see how that runs. Just curious if anyone else might have some ideas as to why this problem might be popping up.
