Computer retardation

I was awoken this afternoon(lawl) to a text message from my mom that her computer is fucked. I went to check it out and the status it was giving was 0xc000000f. The error being with the file Boot\BCD

It's telling the user to put in the Windows install disk, but the computer didn't come with one. I do however have a CD that has the vista drivers on it, and when I stick it in the CD-ROM, a command prompt comes up, but it's not the normal DOS within the computer, I believe it's the CD's command prompt.D: So none of the normal DOS commands work, and I don't know what to do. My mom's expecting a call from the manufacturer's tech support... Any suggestions?

sounds like it needs a little chkdsk /f and fdisk /mbr

Yeah. I tried that, and it wouldn't work. Can't even get past the boot prompt, so I can't get it into safemode. My mom called ZT and they're sending out the restore disk for the computer. So... Bleh. Thanks~

Boots completely from CD/DVD without having to install anything on your (in this case your mom's) computer and has some good tools to perform checks on your HD, memory and other equipment plus a way to back up any data you might want to save.

Download, burn, boot your mom's pc with it and make a back up before even placing the manufacturer's recovery disk into that system.
