Computer Upgrades!

Hooray!

Got my RAM in the mail today, 512 MB of sweet RAMmy goodness. I was a bit nervous installing it myself, since the only thing I'd ever done inside the case was disconnect a cable or two during maintanence, and install a video card. But after looking things up before my attempt I realized it's rather easy and did it in just a matter of second with no hiccups.

Glad I got rid of that nasty 256 PC2700 garbage and upgraded to 512 PC3200

In conclusion through all the rambling though, this post did have a point:

I'd like to thank my buddy Langly for helping me locate a good place to buy RAM, and instruct me on what would be good for my system without being too pricey. You've been a great help man, and I greatly appreciate it.

Congrats. I just purchased a bunch of computer stuff yesterday as well.

As simple as changing ram can be I ruined my first motherboard doing just that. As I started to push the DIMM into it's slot my roomate spoke to me. I looked up to respond but continued to push down waiting for a confirming *click*. Apparently when I looked up my fingers moved off the stick of ram onto a transistor and I proceded to bend the ever loving hell out of it. Powered it up, had a nice smell of smoke reach my nose and then nothing. My first computer was done. /blush

Grats Lecan... my first upgrade was RAM too. Adding 8mb to that 486 damn near doubled the framerate of my Doom I mods.

Nope, my friend hasn't given me DAOC yet, but yes the difference in performance is noticeable ^_^, I hopped on FFXI today to test a few things. Virtually no lag at all in Lower Jeuno now

I recently just bought all new everything for my computer. Only thing I'm keeping is one of my hard drives with all my media on it.

Well I'll time it. I ordered a case, operating system, and two optical drives last night from Newegg for my new computer build. They said two days (buisness days) which either means late Friday night or not until Monday. =/

My stuff shipped two days ago. UPS says it's out for delivering today. I still have a few hours before it gets here though.
