So I bought a "bare bones" kit from compusa the other day. I assembled it, go to turn it on... aand nothing. The light on the motherboard is on but the CPU fan, the exhaust fan, both not working, which means to me that the power supply isn't doing what it's supposed to do. I see on the back of the power supply next to the on off switch is a little red nob that has the voltage set at 130 (I think). I know that's probably what it should be but I'm feeling daring, I switch it to the 230 voltage (they tell me that's european wattage) and flip it on. Booooooom!!! just kidding, but it actually turns on.. which is f'ing weird. But at the same time, it kinda smells like burning rubber. I quickly turn it off thinking I just fried my machine. Switch it back to 130 watts, flip it on, and oddly enough, it turns on this time.
However, the monitor doesnt find a signal to my video card. I turn it off, unplug it, plug it back in, then turn it back on... and again, the power doesn't turn on. The really weird thing is the light on the bottom of my motherboard lights up, so SOMETHING is happening through the power supply, but all my devices don't turn on. Can anyone help me!! Thanks
