I'm looking for a good, free, anti-spyware, and anti-pop up program to use. I used to use seak&destroy and adaware, but can't seem to find them now.

Also, if anyone knows of a good, free, anti-virus program I would greatly appreciate the link.

Thx

Anti Virus Software

I used Spybot Seek and Destroy for spyware,
SPYBOT S & D

Adaware for adware
AD-AWARE SE

AVG free for Virus Scans
AVG FREE

As for Pop-ups I have been using Microsoft Anti-Spyware BETA, it unfortunatly it is going out of beta so i have no idea what to use free anymore

They have all been good for me.

Hope this helps

NECRO!!!

I have this spyware on my comp now that I can't get off. I've ran the search and destroy, ad aware, and the microsoft anti-spyware and pop up. No luck.

I get this pop up from my taks bar with a window saying the computer is infected. When I hit it, it goes to this bunk spyware program that isn't free. Everytime I run the other spyware programs, it removes this bunk one I'm linked to.

Everytime it pops up it kicks me out of the program/game that I'm using, and continually makes a very annoying pop up noise.

Please help me.

if you had norton or some other antivirus, it would declare that popup as a virus. what it does is it rewrites your registry to tell it to reinstall after you get rid of it. when the pop up comes on, do ctrl alt del and get a screen shot of that. you may have to use a antivirus to find out the name of the virus to go into the registry to remove it manually.
if you can get a screenie of the popup, the task list, and/or find out what an antivirus program tells you the name of the virus is.
www.free-av.com is a free antivirus. if you run that, it should get you the program name. i can pretty much guarantee that no antivirus, spyware program, or any of the such will get rid of your problem. its going to have to be manually deleted.

WTS Spyware

On most of those toolbar/popup generating spywares, there will often be an entree in your CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGs list, that or you can put part of the name of the *thing* into search files/folders and sometimes there will be a folder somewhere. If not, get Spyware Blaster from either mirc or torrent, it's more like a spyware preventer than a remover though.

Worse turns to worst, go to google and dig around for help removing it.. some of the more anal ones require you turn off system restore, use safe mode, and all that fun jazz.

Hope something helps
