Sounds like a police officer. :P Yes sir!

MACs are actually very useful in tracking hackers.

MACs can not be changed. Unless with a software mask, but then it's still not changed.

Each computer has ONE MAC per NIC, not 4, a 3com Ecard has one MAC. Even with script kiddy software you're not gonna make any NIC in the world have 4 macs while testing any rig. What do you do?, tell your comp which MAC to send it through while your TCP encapsulates your frame in a packet header... under MAC number 2, or 3? lol. Spare it.

And... I doubt wsm knows how to mask IP, and no - routing your frame, resetting it on another ip, then resending isn't a way. That's easily traceable, any router in the world that can do more than tie it's shoes can easiely jump back to the previous correct hop.

But... WSM.. he's typing in coherant sentances. O.o ...and they make ..sense.

The World Has Gone Mad.

MAC masking is hard to do with software but it's easily done if you have access to the hardware and a writer to change the codes in it. :) Quite a simple task... but not for a script kiddie.

oh and IP spoofing isn't so bad to do either. :P

Yeah, I suppose I over thought that, the MAC is hard coded on the NIC's CMOS, and yes, you can change it with a hardware writer.

And ip spoofing is easy to do, but just as easy to detect. Making it pointless in most situations concerning someone with an intelligence rate anywhere above monkeys.

I really don't think the person/persons in question have access to such hardware. And if they did, why do something like this?
