thats the worst i think 90% of all updates have taken place on my main play days, the last big one killed my whole week and all my plants died cause i couldn't get in to harvest them.... oh well

Nope, it's based off the system clock of the servers. If Game Time stopped during maintainance, all the timers they have would be off.

gah my plants better not die. I should check them right before maintenance and then right after, that should be ok.

Well luckily, they announce maintenances a long time in advance. If you garden for a living, or are at all serious about gardening, you should know about when your plants will be ready for the harvest based on when you plant and feed them. So, if you know a maintenance is coming up, you should make sure that harvest time won't be right on maintenance day; if it is, plant the plants a different day.

In other words: if your plants die because of maintenance, it's more or less your own danged fault for not planning ahead

My plants are harvested on full moon or new moon as I've found there to be an increase of harvest yeild as opposed to other moon phases, so when the full moon passed me by during the previous maintanece and then I had trouble getting in for like 2 days (when I had been waiting three days to harvest plants that were already ready but needed moon phase) I ended up losing some 40 Sapplings on four characters and that's a normal yield of 5-6 ele ores for me. Big hurt to make game money since I hate farming or NM camping.
