Yeah, I was lagging badly all night, as in 1-2 seconds between doing something, and actually having it happen. Went to reboot after FFXI crashed on me, couldn't get back on.

Been having POL-1160 all night. Kinda gave up after randomly trying on hour #3 =\.

POL-1160

/sigh

So what now? Missed static and I'm wide awake! Maybe I'll go dig up Age of Empires and give that a whirl ><;

had there been any message about them working on the problem?

Would have liked to at least log on and put more silver bullets on AH before I go sleep

Nope. It's also the 2nd time in two days that there've been log in problems without notification from Square-Enix about them knowing of, or working to correct them.

Atleast, on the North American POL page.

All Worlds Login Difficulties (Sep. 12): Follow-up 3

This is a follow-up to the previous news regarding FINAL FANTASY XI login difficulties.

After investigation, we have confirmed that the login difficulties are due to a continuous DDoS attack from anonymous third parties. This is currently affecting certain ISP (Internet Service Provider) users.

We will continue investigating the issue and bring this matter to a speedy resolution. We will also inform you with any new updates when they become available.

If you cannot log into FINAL FANTASY XI, we ask that you please wait a while and then try again.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Screw this...

Are they obliged to do this every damn week? It's like routine now...

Every 3 days we get 10hrs of not being able to log cause of some server crap...

It's whoever that's attacking, not SE's fault.

But then it's a DDoS... so... very little they can do. They could just block every packet from every isp that's sending a ping bomb, but then that'll maybe cut half the US high speed players off from ffxi.

Ok, hear me out.
Before i start, i just want to say i have no understanding in DDoS attacks and all that stuff, i'm totally in the dark.... So i may be wrong. Anyways, here goes:

People keep saying it's not SE's fault, however, DDoS attacks are of common knowledge. Shouldn't SE do something to prevent these attacks!? Cause they sure as hell should, since they provide gaming service 24/7 unless previously stated. Either that or they should give us a refund...

Anyways, i just think it IS SE's fault. Think of it this way, you go out of town and check into a hotel. Pay for a room, 24 hrs straight. You go out for dinner, and when you come back, they tell you your room's underwater, cause the pipes were old and blew up in your room, so you have to wait an eternity for either 1. they send you to a new room, or 2. they fix up your old room. Is it their fault or is it nature's fault?!?

Ok, i could have had a better example, i just hope u get my point...

I still think it's SE's fault...

What do you think???
Cheers

Again, who is to say it's even a DDoS. SE has not given us any proof of DDoS attacks ever since they allegedly started. Until they come out with "We're sorry for all the connection problems, here are charts that depict our traffic, incoming and outgoing" which show that they are indeed DDoS attacks, it's just a cop out in my opinion.

Like I said. FFXI isn't #3 in the worlds biggest played MMOs, and yet the ones that are bigger aren't having issues with DDoS attacks.
