Hey guys, asking your advice because , well, QCDN has a really good knowledge base and you usually can help me.

My PS3 will NOT stay connected to the internet, granted they are somewhat momentary lapses in connection, 15-30 seconds, but its enough to knock me out of whatever im doing.

And i dont know if your aware of this but PS3 gaming code is not equipped to handle momentary lapses in connection.

It wouldnt be such a big deal but i am trying to cross-over my ffxi playtime to the PS3.

I have a motorola modem, a netgear router, and it is the same internet that keeps me logged into ffxi on PC flawlessly for days at a time.

Any ideas you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

First and foremost, I would recommend checking for a firmware update for your router.

How do i do that ? :(

Log into your router and check your current firmware.

Google your router model and see if there is a newer firmware or search the netgear website for your model.

If you don't know how to log into your router google your router model number and someone should have posted a guide, probably with pictures.

Either type of connection has the same results, Ill work on this today after work

i had a problem with ps3 connection causing my pc to lose connection. what it was doing was causing my linksys router to reset when i go into the playstation network. what i had to do was set it a manual IP. chances are, its a configuration problem
