i quit playing FFXI a year or so ago and im considering coming back. i simply haven't played a game as fun as FFXI and since im probably going to have to wait around 2 years to play the new SE game(hoping its awesome like ffxi) i figured if i played anything it should be FFXI.

i was wondering what the state of the game was for Quetz. how rampant is RMT? how hard is it finding groups? any of my old friends still play?

I have a lvl 72 ninja and some other jobs leveled up but i can't remember which. I gave all of my gil and gear away but i believe i should still have my Artifact armor. so it shouldn't take me overly long to farm up enough gil to start updating armor.

my main concern is that there are people to do stuff with. im fairly certian i still had a bunch of missions to do in CoP let alone new expansion stuffs that i hadn't touched.
 
After last night, you may want to consider dumping Ninja and levelling Dragoon.

There's still plenty of people around to get things done with ... no need to worry about that. There's that ever-vigilant shift towards the pure high-level population, true, but it's nowhere near a debilitating level yet. You can't swing a dead cat around Whitegate without hitting some form of mission /shout or another.

I recently just came back from a short break, and moved to Quetz since my cousin plays here. I think it depends on the time of day. On this server during the est. day there are way more JP then my other server, but at night there are way more NA also. I have only had problems making parties at lower levels during the est. day with the language gap but it is getting easier. If you play at est. evening/night or est. day and can get along well with JP this server is great, and it should be easy to do things. There are usually 3k people on except for transition periods from JP prime to NA prime.

i've restarted from scratch. character name is Steelfist. and i've noticed that getting groups isn't very difficult.

Yes Quetzalcoatl has total NA and Japanese times for play. I would say 5EST starts the NA peak playtime.
