Did this fight 6 times over the weekend and came away with 6 wins and only 1 close call. Some say they have trouble with it, so I figured I would lay out a couple simple strats for an easy win. Our party setup was nin/war, mnk/nin, mnk/nin, rdm/blm, whm/smn, brd/whm (me, waste of spot).

Contaminated Colluseum- ks30 Holaris Peak, Altropos Orb. Drops Malborvine (1/3 to 1/2 drop rate), Morgenstern, Nins latent weapon, and some nice money drops. Full drop list.

There is only one enemy, a giant morbol called Evil Oscar. He hits hard and causes weight when he hits usually, thus pld is not an option for this fight. We used a nin tank, and very rarely did he get hit by the melee attacks. This also makes having all melees sub nin extremely advantgeous. Otherwise pulling hate equals heavy dmg and likely death. The thing that makes this challenging is the instant death aoe attack. You will see in 'say' chat that Oscar breaths in. He will do this three times, and then a couple seconds after the third his circular aoe instant death attack goes off. Oscar does a few sleep attacks, which combined with this aoe attack can be nasty, but usually there is enough time to pop off a curaga after a sleep attack and give the melees time to move.

The aoe attack has a range of around 10m, so not real big. Use the big hill in this arena to give yourself lots of room to run from him. He also doesn't run too fast, but he can still be hard to outrun for the tank at the last second. Thus, you need a rdm for this. Rdm must keep gravity on him the entire fight. Bind when he breaths in the third time is also recommended. Sleep doesn't work. Whoever has hate also has to be within about 20m to trigger his aoe attack, so if you get too far away after his third breath, you might not trigger it and he will hold it until he reachs you. Thus, you want to get away, but not too far. Something to keep in mind, his breath in rate speeds up as he gets lower on health. So don't go all out at the start, save some for the end to finish him off quickly. To make the fight easier, have someone count out the breaths and post it in party chat, just a simple 1,2,3 run! can make the fight simple. Mages should stay well out of range at all times to avoid the sleepga and death.

Finally, don't get frustrated with the fight. The aoe will catch some of the melees eventually. Either a bad time for weight, sleep, or miscounted breath will result in deaths. We always had at least 1 to 2 deaths per fight, but not in danger of wiping. Thus whm along with r3 makes this much less painful. Melees with reraise 2 hairpins also make the fight much easier. Reraise, cure, throw up blink and your back in action.

Avoid taking a brd (for melee setup), fight is too short and the aoe death attack does not lend well to standing close for long times singing songs. We had an excess of mp every fight which resulted in the whm and rdm nuking. Importance is max dmg.

Basic party setup
Nin or war/nin tank required
Rdm for gravity required
Whm highly recommended
3xDD Rng works very well for this as they naturally stay out of range, but any melee with /nin can do well here.

While I haven't tried the fight with smns, from my experience of it I would say you should bring at least 3 smns for a hard fight. For an easy fight bring 3 smns and a rdm or brd or 4+ smns. Key is to always have another pet ready to move in after the breath attack kills the previous pets. Bst's are pretty worthless for this setup because they can't call a pet often enough to keep up with the rate oscar does the aoe attacks.

Thanks for the guide, I hated camping morbolger but kept hearing horror stories about this bcnm, glad to hear it's not nearly as bad as I had heard.

Thanks a lot Rones. I'd like to get me a Morgenstern one day and that'll help!

Just so everyone knows, Mr. Rones is being totally modest. The fight would've taken considerably longer without double Minuet, in my opinion.

farys lets get together and do this please!

They actually rarely had it on. Either they started early before I got the buff up, it got overwritten with ballad, or they started late and it wore early. I only got it back up for a bit in two fights, got myself killed in two others trying to get it back up, and finally gave up trying to refresh it for the last two. So they did that largely without minuet. It is also extremely risky trying to sing melee songs in this fight because of the aoe death and the melees are running around constantly which makes it a largely wasted effort and risk. So, its not being modest. Brd is bad for this fight.

I'm up for it Kor, I'll tank it for ya, and get Rare/Ex katana if it drops, I still need that thing ; ;

We got somewhere around 4.5-5M in drops from 6 runs. We also got a lot of crap armor that nobody would buy, and 3 of the rare/ex great katana.

Nice, I liked the movie and music. Glad you guys were able to win. What kind of drops did you get and how many runs?

Music : Doctor Online by Zeromancer (Eurotrash album) ^^

Thank you so much for this guide. ; ; Before reading this, everything I ever saw about it said you needed 5 SMNs or BSTs no matter what. >.< I tried it once with 4 SMNs, a RDM, and me as WHM, and we got it to like 1-2% health before finally wiping. I gave up on getting Morgenstern after that. Glad to see I still have a chance.
