So a few months ago my motherboard fried in my HP Pavillion dv6000 notebook. I got the motherboard replaced. The only problem has been that my control keys are bound to almost all the shortcuts, and I have to press it multiple times for it to even work. Then it will ctrl + A, S, F, B, T and C. I'm sure if I were connected to a printer it would also CTRL + P, and I'm not sure if it will CTRL + V once it has a copy of something. I have tried turning on and off sticky keys. Uninstalling, restarting, and loading in the keyboard driver. Yet nothing has fixed the problem that it's multibound. So is there anyway to rebind my control key in Vista? I don't know if anyone can help; if not it's fine I'll just keep doing it the long way.

Have you tried plugging in a different keyboard? It might be hardware related rather than the OS.

Hmm I have not. I'll go pull the keyboard from my parent's desktop to try. If it were hardware related though why wouldn't it have done this before the new motherboard was installed?

Weee their desktop keyboard doesnt fit into my laptop's port for the keyboard/wired mouse slot.

It's possible something went wrong when they swapped out the motherboard or that this was always going to happen and it was just a matter of time. Or you might be right and it's something gone funny on the software side. It's hard to tell without the system in front of me to poke directly. I'd suspect sticky keys as being the culprit because they're insufferably picky about how they'll let themselves be turned off (often control panel doesn't work and they're picky about differentiating between right-shift and left-shift), but since you rebooted and reinstalled I'd have to rule that out.
