Now I have been talking to a few people and they say I need to download a driver or something like that but they don't know much more about it. I want to use an Xbox 360 controller on my PC to play but I really still don't have a clue =p.

So if anyone can offer their assistance as to how to setup my 360 controller for the PC I would be grateful.

Just go to Radio Shack or Best Buy and buy a USB Controller, it looks like a PS2 controller excpet with 1, 2, 3, 4 buttons instead of X, Y, B, O. That's what I use and it's works nicely.

The controller I have now is a USB controller I was just hoping if I could use my 360 usb controller that I have now instead of buying a new one.

Plug it in, and set up the controller in ffxi config.

If that doesn't work, check the system recognizes it under control panel > game settings. If it doesn't recognize it, google "xbox 360 controller on pc".

I always read the wired 360 controllers work for PC. I got the 360 controller for windows on sale, and the only difference is it comes with a disc with the drivers on it. And you can DL those drivers off the MS website. @_@

However, it takes some tweaking to get the "triggers" working right. The default doesnt recognize them as buttons but as pressure switches or something nutty. So I ended up DLing a seperate driver thing anyway. Google XBCD. Should get you those drivers and pretty much step by step directions. Takes some fiddling but a good controller once it works XD

Also don't update the drivers. A pop up comes up like weekly saying UPDATE! But it will screw all your work up if you do.

Hope this helps!

go to Radio Shack and buy the $5 adapter to use your PS2 controller via USB. its what i've been using since i bought this game, it works perfectly.

EDIT:
I personally suggest the PS2 controller approach rather than Xbox 360 controller because as I understand it, the LB and RB (Left and Right Bumper) aren't recognized correctly. Not that its a huge deal, but whatever.

Thanks Trelution I'll do that later when I get home from work.

And to Twille I'm already so used to the 360 controller from using it for a long time on Xbox 360 that I don't think I'll be switching over to a PS2 controller, but thanks anyway.

This reminds me, if you've got a Wii controller I've got a pretty good working script for that just for ffxi. It's a shame the xbox 360 controller can't connect wirelessly.

Nintendo: 1
Microsoft: 0

Not true, my friend says he uses a wireless controller for his FFXI. He just got an adapter to connect to the pc.

Ah, gotcha, so I guess it can be done.

Still my point remains though, Nintendo curiously made it easier, who doesn't have some form of Bluetooth these days?
