So after taking a break from this game for 8 months I've come back and decided to get cooking to 100 finally. Been in the 70s for a good long time. I pretty much power leveled to the 90s and finding it extremely frustrating to go that last few synths to 100. Sweet Rice Cakes making me pull my hair out as one batch only got me 0.1 skill up and costs of 60k for materials.

At this point I'm at 98.1 and wondering if doing the rice cakes to 99 is worth it sanity wise and cost wise or if I should go on with the level 100 synths. Was going to do the Cursed Soup route as farming the Royal Jelly is easier than getting the Dragon Meat for Red Curry. Any feedback from high level cooks would be appreciated as I am looking forward to getting that ding to 100 Cooking ^^

I did Sweet Rice Cakes to 99 then cursed soups to 100. I know the skill up rate on cakes wasn't that bad for me or I never would of did them, maybe just bad luck? You sure it cost you 60k? Prices were way lower when I did it I guess.

Royal Jelly farming wasn't bad at all either. 4-5 hours worth of farming in the Nest took me the rest of the way. The skill ups on those were pretty decent too if I remember correctly.

Good Luck.

Well, with the cost of Fresh Mugwort going at 45k/stack and all the other ingredients adding up quick it gets close to 60k. I guess i could save some gil by making the Maple Sugar or harvesting the mugwort. But it seems easier to just buy them at this point for me.

I probably have to synth these to 99 on the right day for max skill-up. Now do I synth on days opposite crystal for better skill-ups or on the day of the crystal? I seem to be finding sites saying one or the other.

I did Sweet Rice Cakes until 97, because the price of Mugwort was insanely overpriced compared to the price of the Cakes, then made soup. When I got to 99 Cooking, I started to synth in the Lightning direction, otherwise I wouldn't get skill ups. From 99-100 I made 40 Soups.

So, synthing in the lightning direction will net me more skill-ups? I'll try this out and hope for the best. I think I am done with the rice cake route as teh cost is ridiculous. Farming the Royal Jelly won't be a pain. Plenty of spawns in Crawler's Nest anyways and I've got a TH4 for help lol.

40 soups sounds like a lot for the last level but that shouldn't surprise me. Just grin and bear it... Thanks for the input :)

I personally believe that there are directions where elements are stronger. You can find a lot of evidence that will support it, and a lot of evidence that will deny it. But if you look in the sky (not sure about WotG), you can clearly see 8 visible colored stars in the direction of the compass. I also believe that if you synth on the opposite day of your crystal, you'll get HQ/breaks more often, kind of like casting Fire on Watersday.

You can steal the Honey from the bees and drop the cost of making the Soup, and if you run out of crystals, the Elementals pop in both basements. It's easy, just time consuming, to collect the Royal Jelly. Good luck :)

My cook is 98.3 cooking atm, I buy fresh mugworth singles whenever I can for lower overall than the 12pk price, not looking foreward to farming royal jelly as my cook has limited abilites farming lol.

I plan to do sweet rice cakes as long as I can then switch to soup after that.

I knew I should have done all my crafting on Jes. :)

I just remembered why this was so cheap for me. I farmed the fresh mugworts myself. If you go to Bhaflau Thickets you can harvest them yourself and the drop rate really wasn't too bad. I got them about as fast as you would get royal jelly's and npc the rice cakes for break even profit.

Hope that helps, good luck.

That's good about the harvesting Fresh Mugwort in the Thickets. I'll prob go do this as this will make it easier on my gil situation. Never done harvesting before but I don't imagine it's rocket science >.>

I did get some Fresh Mugwort from a player's bazaar for 3,5k a piece one time which was nice. Usually not alot on AH though. But hoping to finish this up by next week, if not the end of the month lol.

Thanks for everyone's advice on this. :)
