5) FFXI forums are usually 5-6 months behind the rest of the internet, I'm sure a SHOOP DA WHOOP or I HAS A BUCKET sig will bring da lulz for a few months.

If you play on PC and don't have a litter of puppies every time someone mentions a 3rd-party program, you could give this a try:

They've got a pretty nifty setup. You download and run a program that checks FFXI while you play, and gathers information about your character. You can then use that information to make a signature on their website, which you can reference on other sites, such as this one.

The signature I have below is a combination of one of Skanya's wonderful creations, and FFXI Query's signature-generator. They have a lot of default backgrounds, and a default setup that can be modified to display just about whatever you would want, wherever you would want it.
