So i play on ps2 :shok: but have no keyboard, when i can, i use another account on my lagtop to type. Just downloaded the windower few months ago to use in conjunction with vent and to sex up some pixels. <3 playing with .dats btw, thanx Devi :nyam:

Long story short(too late)... is there a plugin that'll translate kanji(sp?)w/e to english and vice versa?

i'm really not too concerned about the accuracy of said translations, would just like to hold a quasi decent conversation with some JP friends.

It doesn't translate... it just allows you to use the IME (Ie to type in kana or kanji instead of romaji)

Go to comp usa and buy a cheap USB keyboard for your ps2. The ps2 has two USB slots in the front where you can plug one into.

right around post #4 theres a small rant about the condition of my ps2, the problems with the on screen kb have since been patched, but i doubt that SE is gonna release an update that'll fix my crapped out usb ports.

Best thing you could do is use a translator like babelfish or google translate and then copy the line of text that you translate from english into the game. I know that windower used to let you pull text from the game using copy 1-6 (1 being bottom line in window 6 being 6th up, etc) command, but that was crashing windower a ton so they took it out. There may be a plugin that still lets you do that somewhere, but if there isn't you'd be on your own as far as translating Japanese > English.

Anyways no I don't know about translator I just wanted to give you shit for still having that broken shit for well over a year now when new ones are like a 100 bucks

Either babelfish stuff (which'll come through quite badly in both directions), learn a little bit of Japanese (at the very least, learning hiragana and katakana will let you be able to look stuff up in a dictionary, you can ask them to spell out their kanji), or bumble around as best you can with the autotranslator and judicious use of smilies the way others do.

why do u want it to translate anyway, if they wont speak in auto translate or broken engrish then its not worth talkin to them

1. Download JP-compatable parser (Spyle's could do it but that's dead, Tazzy's might be able to, and I've never tried with later versions of DVS)
2. Listen to JP chat
3. Copy parsed text from parser to online translator of choice
4. Read horrible engrish babelspeak.

And to talk to JP people without knowing JP, reverse the process.
1. Type english into EN>JP translator
2. Copy and paste horrible JP babelspeak from site into FFXI (need windower, make sure the line isn't longer than the FFXI chat character limit or you'll crash the game)
3. Press enter, and pray you didn't just ask them what flavor their mother is.
