Crafting what do you think could make them dead crafts like leather crafting, rise from the grave? If you was the desiner of this game what would you add?

Cooler things from crafting points; like Rare/EX things that actually benefit you for parties and stuff, not for crafting synthesis results, but for like real stats like DEF or something.

What i think might be cool is that Each Craft might havea Stat or skill attached to it....

For instance you dont see any Small armed smiths... Why? because they use there muscle and heat to Beat the Metal into what they want to make and that requires Strength.... So it would be neat to attach a corosponding Stat or skill bonus to Crafts that would become more potent as the Craft levels....

Examples could be

For every 10 Skill levels in Smithing you get a +1 to Strength or Vitality
For every 10 Skill levels in GoldSmithing you get +1 to Accuracy or Strength

I dont know if every skill has a corrisponding Stat or skill but this is just a idea ^^

Jono's crafting mules would have 100 in every stat at level 1 if they did that.

I like the idea of 'soulbound' stuff like Thnik suggested. But really, is there any craft that's dead? LC still has Byrnie (an excellent DD piece for tanks, sells well) & Sniper's Rings, Cooking's got sushi... I can't see any craft I wouldn't want to get serious about.

Problem with this is if crafting gave anything beneficial stat-wise or skill-wise (asides crafting itself), we'd probably have somewhat of a market crash since anyone with money'd be dumping it into levelling crafts. If people will foot an additional 2m for one extra str on a piece of gear, just think what they'd pay for some kindof permanent boost from upping a craft.

Alchemy may lack the "home run", get rich quick synth, but you can make a pretty constant stream of cash HQ'n consumables.

Thought I heard somewhere that HKTK Clusters have been selling for up to 3mil, whereas the eyes still seem to sell for around 1-1.4m altogether. Not a great leap but it does seem to be in pretty high demand lately?

used to have hawkers+1 also, the profit on those was nice. I was getting ok at HQ'n those, but there was a couple mil I was missing out after the RNG nerf drove the price down on them.

mass produce Silent oil?

I meant it more as a joke since it doesn't have that home run, most of the crimson don't break the first tier...

Hawkers were a lot nicer pre-nerf reaching 4 mil, and the cost was similar to the cost at 2 mil. not sure what the prices on this stuff is after the big price hike on everything.

Alchemy's actually my highest craft. I'd take it to 100 if there werent already so many people up there.

Alchemy with Smithing & Woodworking fully levelled = badass bolt factory.

Why do you think these crafts are dead?

The very nature of the crafting system keeps the crafts very active so long as the items produced are needed...

Crafting would be better if brand name mattered. For example, my culinary is 70, so if I made an apple pie, it should taste better (and do more) than an aspiring culinarian who's skilling on them. I realize there are HQ tiers, but I think there should be more grades of quality. There should be a whole spectrum between perfect quality and poor quality. Quality should reflect the conditions of the synth too. Having HQ support and the GP items, while synthing in the workshop of your guild should yield higher quality than an impromptu synth in the middle of Ifrit's Cauldron. Sadly, adding a quality scale to crafted items would break the AH. I still think it'd be an improvement. The idea of for example training to be a master chef isn't simply to be able to make souflets instead of just baked beans. It's also to be able to make a batch of baked beans that tastes better than an untrained cook's beans.

uhhhhh, what?

that's a stupid way to break out the thread, I very much hope they don't change crafting, it will keep people with your attitude away from my craft.

I'd like to see a more interesting craft system instead of "click on crystal, click on materials, character sits/kneels to the floor and magic ball appears in front". I always liked Gothic where like.. blacksmiths used real fires and heated a rod and then pound it into a sword with the hammer they need and then cool it and grind it on the grindstone for sharper blades.. ah good times.

oh.. but as for bringing Leather from the dead.. hmmm guess if they released MNK JSE and made it only leathercrafters could make it and not keep screwing with a leatehercrafter's resources (like where they drop from) than that should be good.

To make a byrnie you need a behemoth hide, and they're all but monopolied by a certain ls that is lead by a high level leathercrafter who doesn't sell the hides to his competition. Snipers come from archers, which are in a lot shorter supply now that they come from BCNM only.

Leather is dead compared to what it was, the last big ticket HQ that can be mass produced is the amemet mantle. I think mnk JSE would more likely be clothcraft, since the kimonos are cloth made, but rng JSE might come from leather, if by some miracle SE decides to give us that. Of course, I'm sure rng JSE would be worthless to synth, partially due to the decline in rangers, and partially due to the fact that SE would no doubt just make rng JSE a big AGI pile like all other gear they give us.

They should just let crafting wither away as we know it and slowly replace it with a system that doesn't break itself by default. The HQ system was uninspired and naively developed. Crafts would be better balanced if there were no such thing as HQ. HQ system only panders to the impoverished lottery mentality. It wastes so much resource on wasted NQ synthing. I'd rather see level restrictions be higher and the HQ flag taken out of the system than to see every craft slowly decay into being nothing but 2 or 3 synth's *****. That's what CC is. That's what leather is. Instead of being an open full robust active market at all levels, the whole thing is now set up to do nothing but fuel the high levelers' spamming attempts. It's beyond ridiculous what crafts have become thanks to HQ. They're just shells of their former selves, and the only people who support them, of course, are those now at the top who both leveled when the craft was active and profit now that the craft is dead.

this here is a good point

slightly off my own topic but this also the reason why the pcc, archer ring, ll boots, emp pin never should have gone to a bcnm. It killed the bcnm as we know it. When people do bcnm they only do 1 or 2 diffent ones leaving other bcnm untouch and prices on though item rise higher and higher dew to low demand.

as for crafting being dead it not really dead but like he said they only doing certain syth and the hq are redicously price on even item that are not so good just because it says +1. Though what I think that help crafting is to make more nm / mobs drop more syth items, improve the list of syth items.

you cant say that leather crafter has been that profitible lately unless you get your hands on beh hides which even then not that profitable.
