Anyone else notice the strange similarities between the Kid from th efirst CoP missions and the Antagonist in Advent Children? Coincidence?

Lack of creative imagination... SE is going down the shitter, if you will notice the styles of their charachters is becoming more and more similar as the games go on.

I wasn't even aware advent children was out, unless you're talking about Sephiroth?

I like to call their lack of creativity.... Artistic style it makes it sound much more complicated.

|Frost| which PM are you up to now anyways? Didnt chat about missions since, oh way back in chapter 1.

They like to reintroduce their character models over and over again... Well its cool the first 5 times but when you can pick out the guy named Cid in in the entire series, I think you have a problem. Does anyone know if Advent Children has an official release date for the U.S. yet?

My friend sent me a thing to preorder it so yes its coming out soon.

I thought it was a movie =.0

I'd like to point out that like at least 3/4 of FF main heros are sort of blonde with a kinda spikey hair look to them. And many "mysterious" people are slick, long silver-haired guys. This is just a common theme they continue on with such as Cid and Biggs/Wedge. SE has a tradtition to its games that it tries to integrate without recycling much. I like that there is some tie between games but that is just pure lack of creativity after almost 20 years of pounding out games.

The cid thing is more of a novelity so to say, not so much a lack of creativity. He's just the trademark person, somewhat like how in nintendo games they have hidden pictures or places that contain characters from other famous nintendo games.

On to the original topic. Ya the bad guys are all a bit too similar these days. However I'm quite fond of the badguy in our game, FFXI, shadowlord isn't sneaky, he's different. Brute force, alot of size, yet clumsy. He reminds me alot of x-death from FF5, which is a type of badguy that hasn't been played out much in FF games. Shadowlord and X-death are simple yet it'd be hard to overdo it. They're classics, like Hulk Hogan!

I'd like to see some more female villians though as well as shadowlord type baddies. Female villians is a road SE hasn't traveled much and could provide new themes/situations.

It's not entirely a lack of creativity, as much as it is the artist's trademark style. The protagonist are always young males, usually slightly efeminite, and most often blonde... with the acception of FFVIII in which the main protagonist was a brunette.

FFVIII also contained a ruthless bitch of a woman Antagonist if I do recall 8) .

Fae

Granted sme of it is their drawing style you could say, if you look at the diffrent works of many artists there are typicaly underlying similarities, also the cid thing is more of a running joke/theme then lack of creativity. Chocobos as well apear in most if not all of the final fantasy games. (They might not be in the first few, have not played em...)

Moogles have appeared in *EVERY* FF game, haven't they?

You're right.

Well, there's also Sion Barzahd from one of my favorite Squaresoft RPG / Beat-'em-Up for PS2 known as The Bouncer... I even have a Wall Scroll of the game.

Kinda funny how Sion looks alot like Sora from the popular Square / Disney cross-over RPG... Kingdom Hearts...

Here's Sion Barzahd...

...

So yeah, Square-Enix does have alot of re-occuring character designs. How many can YOU identify?

There was a Final Fantasy Fan site that explained this once...

They were doing all the summons / god beasts.

Moogles didn't appear on the scene until Final Fantasy 3 (For NES, that was released in Japan only, but will be Re-Released on Nintendo DS... The "Final Fantasy 3" we know is actually "Final Fantasy 6" for SNES)...

Moogles were a random battle mob at the time. Chocobos didn't appear until Final Fantasy 2 for NES.
