I'm not sure if I'm missing some vital piece of information, but I'm completely stumped here. I'm currently running Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit, and am trying to install Windows XP on a separate partition to hopefully create a dual-boot environment. I found plenty of guides and help on doing this in reverse (From XP to 7), but I can't seem to do it the way I thought I could.
I have about 200 GB of unallocated space on my hard disk. I booted from an XP SP2 cd, and attempted to format/install on that open space. During the process of booting, it will then say something along the lines of "Hard disk error, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". Restarting does not fix the problem. From that point, I have had to insert and boot from my Windows 7 CD, and repair the boot sequence to even get my computer to boot into 7 again.
Running XP Mode and/or a Virtual machine is not an option for what I am looking to do. Any advice is appreciated~! Thanks.
