This is the point where I reveal my utter lack of knowledge when it comes to mage jobs and how stats affect magic.

So.

Dark Magic Skill +10 or Dark Magic Skill +5 and INT +8?

I'm sketchy on how INT actually works in terms of magic acc/attk.

I have Crimson Finger Gauntlets and the Abyss+1 hands, and I use the crimson. Not sure about the stats and how they affect it, but in my experience, the crimson have been better.

PS: I got the crimson first!

bottom line: 10 Skill will do better for you on mobs that are magic based

5 skill and 8 int will give you larger drains/absorbs/aspirs (which is about all you should need this on)

10 skill will ensure your stuns land, your drains/absorbs/aspirs are consistant rather than getting one large and one small, and will cause your Bio to do more damage/tic(damage/tic is based on dark skill)

Other than that there's not much difference

For DRK, Dark Magic > Int ALWAYS. It's generally accepted that INT doesn't affect Drain or Aspir, but does affect the initial damage things like Bio and Bio II do.

yeah, i was under the assumption int dose nothing for drain/asipr. this being the reeason behind rdm's using wise cap, for the magic acc.

This is true, and Rappa even did some rudimentary (but sound) testing to prove it. INT only affects the initial dmg of Bios, and nothing else.

Danke all.

Being a Galka and all, I've never put too much thought into the specifics of how magic works, and this was arguably the first time I've had gear where it made much of a difference between which piece I used.

So INT doesn't even affect the accuracy of Drain/Aspir?

INT has no effect on dark magic aside Bio's initial damage. The reason why BLM are often seen with better results casting Drain and Aspir is because they use a Pluto's staff.

If you're interested in boosting your damage, invest in an Anrin obi.
