So I'm working on my MNKs sub right now. When I'm done with that though I want to get him to 50 ASAP. When I get him there I want a pair of Cross-Counters to put onto him. What I want to know is if anyone has camped this mob before at what level do you need to be to effectivly solo it as a SAM? If that isn't possible short of being 75 How many people would it take to bring it down with 65-70 level jobs?

a 75 drg/rdm can solo it elf taru mithra but not galka or hume :(

I'm not sure if you can solo the NM, but if you can't you're going to need some good friends to be willing to give you the drop.

Just to warn you, it is a fairly trying mob to camp, and usually gets claimed by gilsellers. It has an eight hour window, unlike the normal three (20-28 hours).

I'm fairly sure a 75 SAM could solo it using Meikyo Shisui, especially if it was a SAM/DRG doing a self-Light skillchain. Not sure about any lower than 75 though.

you need 75 to solo, you need a team of 70+'s to fricking claim the damn mob.

Really though I thank you for the info, I think as a SAM/NIN I might be able to solo this. just need to get Ni and I should be set. <me>s NIN is only 35 and yet to get a Ni scroll as a drop from the BCNMs I do. Eventually though I will get it and then I will go as a 75 SAM/NIN and kick this shadows ass. Finally though my buddies NIN is 29 so he can play as a DRK/NIN and I can level my SAM beyond 56. BTW if you want to party with a Hume SAM 56 that gains TP faster than any before and an Elvaan DRK/NIN that loves big DMG look Shaunessy and Darkenemy up in the next few weeks. We are going to be kicking ass there is no doubt about that. Even if we have to do it as a duo.

i rofl'd and lmao's and lol'd and all that good stuff. let me put it to you this way, a level 50 monster will eat a level 50. a level 60 monster will eat a level 60.
western shadow will eat you and anyone you could convince to come with you.

Also i think any one below lvl 73 still gets agroe in that area. BTW 75mnk/37nin can solo this thing easyly. I know from experince.

Well there you go. Now that my buddy has his NIN sub to "not be gimped" he is going to start leveling his DRK again and now I can start to level my SAM. If a 75 MNK/NIN can solo this there is no reason why a 75 SAM/NIN couldn't.

You're pretty much right on the money here. Except, in the 2 months I spent in that place I've seen both Eastern and Western spawn anywhere from 18-28.

When I finally did get my Ebow he didn't spawn till the 28th hour... So, yeah... this isn't a joke mob that you can casually walk in and camp. However, the gilsellers that camp him these days are terrible at claiming, and any person with half a lick of skill should be able claim.

When I did it Qoon and Graveyard pretty much out-claimed me evertime, but the funny thing is they'd leave after the 24 hour mark thinking they somehow missed it. I guess JP don't know everything lol

Also, I'm pretty sure you can solo these with Sam/nin, but you can't take two, so make sure you time your PH and non-PH kills accordingly. The last thing you want is to be fighting the non-PH and see Western shadow pop and some RMT claim it cause you didn't space out the kills.

edit: I assumed you were lvl 75 lol. You've got a while.

Well, when I camp mobs I do it for the win. My bro makes way more money than I do in this game just for the simple fact that when I'm out camping he is out farming or trading. After seeing him make millions on stupid ass shit I should forllow him and make money, but I like the competition of camping a mob. That is what gives me enjoyment. I don't care about money, I have a good bit. But CC someone, that is fun to me. To me getting a claim when there is no CCs is weak, but when there are people there and I get the claim...that is a high. SOme people just don't get it though.

MNK/NIN has a number of advantages over Samurai/Ninja, namely the fact that they do ALOT more damage. They also have an HP restore ability, Counter, and Hundred Fists.
Samirai is made or broken on its subjob, wheras Monk is only enhanced by its subjob.

Mara, to be fair, Meikyo Shisui is VERY powerful when used by a 75 Samurai. Shaunessy may be... misguided... in some ways, but he isn't foolhardy enough to go after the Cardinal Shadows at too low a level (he said so himself). Anything too far from 75 will get crazy aggro up there, and for an eight or more hour window, oils/powders will dramatically outweigh the value of the drop.

One self-Light Meikyo from a 75 SAM will probably kill a Cardinal Shadow outright, or take it so far down that melee should do the trick, especialy if the SAM is subbing NIN as Shaunessy says he will do. SAM/DRG could do two self-Light skillchains, which with any luck would guarantee the kill, though if the skillchains failed it'd probably be lights out for the /DRG.
