Recently, FFXI's incredible popularity has led to a population boom! The introduction of the Merit Point system and the rapid increase in the number of missions and quests have also increased the traffic in several select areas.

In order to allow everyone room to engage in battles to their heart's content, the FFXI development team will be adjusting enemy locations in the next version update. The bulk of the changes will be to areas from the newest expansion pack, "Chains of Promathia." These adjustments will give players more freedom when choosing where to battle.

The next version update is currently in the testing phase, so look forward to experiencing it soon!

Hmm.... what do they mean by this exactly?

I, myself was wondering the same thing... quicker spawns? more spawn points?

Sounds like they are making better camps. Some of the best exp locations are crippled by poor camps.

Yeah, it's not so much the lack of monsters in those locastions, as much as it is safe places to park your party.

I'm guessing it involves xp mobs too. Maybe adding some new xpable locations for crappy levels (like the 65-66 range) so there aren't 8 pts in Bibiki and 10 pts in Boyahda Tree every night.

Now the problem will just be people finding those zones, trying them out, and telling everyone they see how good a camp it is. :roll: I'm a big fan of alternate camps myself, and there are already plenty in every level range... the problem is getting a PT who has never been there or heard of going there to try it out.

For instance... I was in a 60-62 PT last night. 4 JPs and 2 NAs, though 2 of the JPs spoke fluent English from what I saw. They wanted to go to Labyrinth of Onzozo, but they noticed that there were already 3 PTs there. The leader (one of the JPs that spoke English) asks me and the other NA player if we know of any other places. I suggested Attohwa Chasm or Upper Delkfutt, 12th floor. They said they'd never been to Attohwa Chasm and didn't feel too comfortable doing that. Then they decided to just go to Valley of Sorrows, completely ignoring my sugggestion of Delkfutt. :? Most people just don't like leveling places they've never leveled before. ><;

As for the PT... Valley of Sorrows was decent exp, but then they noticed that Onzozo was empty, so we moved there. Well, as soon as we got in and pulled our first mob, another PT showed up, but pulls weren't too much of a problem dispite that. However, we had been doing a lot better in Valley of Sorrows. The exp wasn't bad in Onzozo; we were getting more per mob than in the Valley. But the mobs were just too hard for our PT to be worth it, in my opinion. In just under 4 hours (including downtime), I made just over 8k exp. :? Somehow I think we'd have done a lot better fighting bats and giants in Delkfutt. <.<;;

Yes, there are all ready a ton of places to exp. People just keep going to the same places for some reason, never expanding to them. For example, you can get to 65 in Quicksand Caves, but people would rather crowd other places instead.

Even now there are many alternate places to lvl no mater what lvl you are. No one is open to new places tho as far as the groups of people I've ended up with for exp pts. Everyone wants to go to the old, familiar, safe places that everyone else goes to. I for one love to go to those off the wall places. It's something different ^^.

My guess is changing spacing in Ulegurand Range. You can merit there but it's too far out of the way and none of the camps are really all that 'safe.'

Maybe move the Blaggers out of the way in Bibiki too.

Well, the screenshot that went with the news is of goblins in an area that looks like Bibiki, so I'd say that that's one of the areas they're changing.

I don't know much about alternate exp camps, though, as I haven't really searched mob levels to try something new yet >.>

If you haven't figured it out yet. SE likes to be "cute" with their topic images. It's a group of goblins moving somewhere, like pack of nomads. Doesn't mean it even applys to goblins.
