Well, apparently this image that supposedly is from the .dat files has been floating around:
Kind of ruins my earlier logic..
I've gotta say, to me, this is even more disappointing than the idea of one class getting a specific limit break that doesn't fit them. Now whole classes get lumped into a category, when these limit breaks only make sense to see specific class/job types to use.
Tank role is perfect for gladiator/paladin, but kind of retarded to be seeing a Warrior use the same animations.
Caster role is perfect for Black Mage, our only caster class until we get Summoner (and possibly Scholar, won't know any details about that until later today at E3 @4pm Cst). Doesn't quite make as much sense seeing an Arcanist/Summoner using the same animations.
Melee role is odd, 1 of the 3 animations are fine for Monks (because it's freaking Final Heaven), while Bladedance doesn't fit any of our melee classes at all (that's the Omnislash-like move).
Healer & Ranged makes no sense to me as all the abilities seem prime for White Mage alone. Why Archer/Bard get healing limit breaks (and Raise at lvl 3) is beyond me.
The problem I have with this system is that now that they've lumped every class into a specific role, it also has the effect of lumping any future classes into these roles with these specific limit break animations.
Anyone hoping to play an Archer/Bard and be a high damage bow user, forget damage as your limit break you can heal! ...... Yep.
Anyone hoping for future ranged dps classes like, oh I dunno, Musketeer get to do a healing limit break instead of something that makes more sense.. like damage.
Perhaps they will make a new role(s) to apply to future classes, since a scout type of class has been talked about (Ninja, Theif, ect.), and maybe they will get a new role of limit breaks. But that still wouldn't solve the issue of everybody doing the same thing.
It's really a dumb system in my opinion.
Limit Breaks should have been specialize for each class/Job. I'd have been fine with them holding off on introducing Limit Breaks altogether if it meant they would refine the system to make each class feel special when performing essentially "the ultimate move".
