What the heck gives Cubswoo the right to dictate anything? I mean, that's what we're all doing, but I feel like Cubswoo has become the self proclaimed moderator in our supposebly free reign anarchy flame forum. I mean, we all bitch about things and sometimes, I'm just bitching just for the sake that I have something to bitch about. I didn't know I had to get the Cubswoo stamp of approval.

When you first complained about your not getting rank 5, and your bad LS, I really felt sympathy for you. (Yes yes, the response to that is, I didn't ask for your sympathy) However, if you post on here, you're goign to get responses and feelings directed at you without you asking. Comments thrown at you and you'll just have to take it if you're reading the posts.

I complain about shouts all the time, however, most of the time, I'm just looking for some comfort that I'm not the only person that feels that way. If I am, well, I guess there must be somethign wrong with me.

So Cubswoo, to you I'd say, just suck it up. If you don't like the person, boot them from your party. I would recommend that you give anybody joining your party that thread about the Cubswoo rules to partying as that basically scared that crap out of me and will never want to party with you as I'd afraid to even rest at the wrong time. As for your board rules and hope for a moderator, I doubt it'll happen.

I hope there was enough thought put into this post for you and I know when people start flaming other QCDNers, there seems to be a small posters war because people agree with one or the other, but I guess it's better than the typical "He's so incompetent" or "He sellz gilz". I know we're both competent players but lately your posts leave me with bad feelings.

/em readies to cast spell "Flaming Hell"

Hehe been a while since I had an opportunity to use that beast! See how it works ^^

I'm going to have to agree with Palum on this one. I'm so sick of logging on in game and being scared shitless of the fact I might not be "up to par" and now this elietest attitude is spilling onto the boards with this "What posts are worth keeping and what aren't" bullshit.....

Jesus, I mean it's not like I'm a bad player and I do my best to keep up to date with equipment but it really fuckin sucks when my stomach is churning when I read posts like Cubs "Rules" post. It's a damn game, meaning it should be fun - not stressfull and humiliating.

You don't need my 'seal of approval.' But if someone's going to form a thoughtless, shitty post about an old and overdone topic, well, one should expect to be called out on it. I like quality posts, and I like a quality board. Much like many of the other people who have left both this board and the server due to such problems. (I hate to keep bringing up Keits, but...) I like the board, and I wouldn't post on it if that weren't the case.

When you first complained about your not getting rank 5, and your bad LS, I really felt sympathy for you. I appreciate your feelings. I do. And I don't care if people disagree with me or flame me, really, I enjoy the discussions and if it becomes a fight, then so be it. But look at every flame war I've gotten into. The other person has, almost without fail, run out of steam and turned to personal insults, threats, and internet penis-swinging. If you want to argue with me, feel free, but be prepared for someone who is ready to dig in and fight for his persepctives and thoughts.

I complain about shouts all the time, however, most of the time, I'm just looking for some comfort that I'm not the only person that feels that way. If I am, well, I guess there must be somethign wrong with me.

You're not the only one - it's why I keep almost everything filtered.

So Cubswoo, to you I'd say, just suck it up.

Why? Why should I lower my standards because of other people? If others want to make crappy threads, I'll be there to point them out.

If you don't like the person, boot them from your party. I would recommend that you give anybody joining your party that thread about the Cubswoo rules to partying as that basically scared that crap out of me and will never want to party with you as I'd afraid to even rest at the wrong time.

I've started to include "XP<2500/hr = {Disband} into my comments for exactly that reason. As for the rules? They boil down to play your job, don't be a dumbass, and don't go AFK for half the session and I have no problem with you. Notice that I don't name names, for the most part. People don't need to be singled out for one bad day or one problem. I keep my /blist and my 'do not party' list to myself,' as those only lead to trouble and one man's terrible is another man's amazing. You have every right not to party with me, but you should. Because I'm one less bad member you have to worry about.

As for your board rules and hope for a moderator, I doubt it'll happen.

I agree, and that's a sad thing. People are content with the inmates running the asylum.

I hope there was enough thought put into this post for you and I know when people start flaming other QCDNers, there seems to be a small posters war because people agree with one or the other, but I guess it's better than the typical "He's so incompetent" or "He sellz gilz". Honestly, if more people voiced their concerns with the candor and the thought you've put into this, I'd be much happier, since the people I party with would be getting constant 4-5k/hr runs and wouldn't go out to party with awful gear.

In summation, I welcome those who disagree with me. Just don't let your path of attack go through the "You are human garbage" lines. it's embarassing to you and it makes me and my girlfriend laugh at you. A lot.

I don't have the same problems you do. Why are you so worried about not being 'up to par?' I'm sure you've put some amount of research and thought into the game.

Jesus, I mean it's not like I'm a bad player and I do my best to keep up to date with equipment but it really fuckin sucks when my stomach is churning when I read posts like Cubs "Rules" post. It's a damn game, meaning it should be fun - not stressfull and humiliating.

Yes. EXACTLY. And what isn't 'fun' is watching one or two wastes of space ruin a perfectly good XP session for the other 5 people. And most leaders are too scared of not finding a replacement (or just doing T's with 5) to boot the problem member. Why should MY fun be compromised by others? I look at my character every time before I go out to party and I ask myself:

"Can I contribute 100% of my effort and time to make my party the best it can be?"

If the answer is no, I DON'T PUT MY FLAG UP. I don't play drunk (not that I drink anyway, just saying.) I don't party tired or if I have work or class or whatever coming up in the next few hours. I don't party when I'm pissed off, because that leads to stupid mistakes. I know this is impossible for some people, and I have to deal with that.

But I don't have to support them, in game or outside of it. But that makes me 'elitist' and 'scary.' I'm sorry if that makes you feel that way, but coddling and supporting that right is what has given us bad players, bad XP and bad times in the 50s and beyond.

This isn't on my head. Can you say the same?

You come off in a lot of your posts as treating this game more like a job than a video game. Do I get pissed off when I'm with the absolute short bus of players? Yes! Do I just leave the party and go on about my way and not really let it bother me for all that long? Yes!

I've read absolulte pages upon pages on what to do with my Summoner job. I'm pretty comfortable with my play style and equipment and am constantly looking for ways to get better. Am I a bad player? I don't think so, but do I constantly achieve vast amounts of XP everytime I play....probably not. The thing is I am capable of having a great time even when my situation in a party isn't ideal. I'm thinking a lot of people need to remember the fact that this is a community game and everyone has a different way of playing. Some of my worst XP/Hr partys have been my most enjoyable.

The bouncing tank party I was in last month was the best, absolutely awesome people and probably one of my more memorable nights on FFXI. I can handle a bad player with a good attitude better then I can handle a good player with a bad attitude...

Agreed, and agreed. But when people tell me that I shouldn't voice my opinions as per being a good player/responsible party member? That they're scared of partying with me? Why are people scared of success?

That's where we differ. I have to deal with the short bus group of people in all other aspects of my life. I don't want to have to deal with them during my recreation. And a community is only as strong as its weakest member. Finally, about treating ti like a job... sometimes, yes, I do. The things I want out of the game will come during the endgame, when I can get into the story and do Rank 9-10 missions. I want a Sky pass. I want my Windy Flag in my MH. But to get those, I need to level first. Even flavor-wise, we 'adventurers' are all doing the 'job' of retaking Vana'diel for our nations.

The bouncing tank party I was in last month was the best, absolutely awesome people and probably one of my more memorable nights on FFXI. I can handle a bad player with a good attitude better then I can handle a good player with a bad attitude...

It's the opposite for me. I'd rather deal with a silent (or offensive) person who pulls in 6k/hr over a 4 retard party that likes to yuk it up.

I've been itching at this for a looooong time....
Cubswoo, you are definitly a great player, but all your posts and rule guides make me feel inferior, and that is not right. I'm glad someone like Palum had the guts to stand up to you.

I don't care if you think up of one thousand witty responses to contradict everything I have just said, you need to cool down and quite frankly get a grip. Chills would run down my spine if I ever got into a pt with you....just thinking of the corrections you would make with me and anyone else. I know you have the freedom of speech thing, and this is the flameboard, but you cannot just expect people to conform to your "big brother" mentality.

Before you quote my last sentence, I am not accusing you of trying to pull a hitler on us, but that "ffxi bible" you posted (God I wish people could have that embedded in their heads) reminded me as to how many people agreed with you, even me! It was almost like a literal BRAINWASHING.

No matter what your rank or prestige is in Quetzalcoatl or amongst our peers, your domineering personality has affected most of us in different ways. Sorry to be so against you, I hope the same flamethrower wont be shot at me once more people view this forum.

<Hmmm...>

If you only want to deal with XP/Hr ratio and storyline might I reccomend some great console RPGs that have none of that "Human" bullshit to get in your way.

Cubs I've talked with you in-game and you seem like a pretty good guy but it really sucks when you have to lay down rules to be in a party with someone. It's like saying "Just because you don't make XXX # of dollers every year I won't give you the time of day."

The whole point of FFXI is the fact that it's online with other people playing. It's social, dynamic and yes at times full of shenanegans that only a human can bring to a game.

I'm sorry if I've somehow hurt your feelings about how I play this game, but in all honesty, if others aren't concerned about my feelings, I can't say I should be of yours. Really, though, sorry.

You really should party with me, then. I don't 'correct' people. I don't make people feel bad for a mistake. I don't even ask for things like Protect, Refresh, etc. It's not my style. I save my complaints for the end of the party, and they're not usually to the players, but to myself. My leaving the party is my way of showing my disapproval - nothing more.

Before you quote my last sentence, I am not accusing you of trying to pull a hitler on us, but that "ffxi bible" you posted (God I wish people could have that embedded in their heads) reminded me as to how many people agreed with you, even me! It was almost like a literal BRAINWASHING.

I'm not sure the point you're trying to make here. Is it a bad thing that I posted it? That my points were agreed with? I really don't think it's any kind of 'brainwashing.' Common sense, maybe? Some people had vaild complaints with it and that's their right. I posted that because I felt my way is a better way, and in almost every case, well, it is. 2+2=4 and all that.

No matter what your rank or prestige is in Quetzalcoatl or amongst our peers, your domineering personality has affected most of us in different ways. Sorry to be so against you, I hope the same flamethrower wont be shot at me once more people view this forum.

<Hmmm...>

I'm not in this to be popular. I'm in it to be respected, and you respect me as a player. You may not agree with me, but you respect me. And that's FINE. All I ask for is respect amongst my fellow players. Anyone in BigFun will tell you I'm a good guy, very social, a lot of fun to talk to. CubsWoo the party member and CubsWoo the fisherman/woodworker/farmer/etc are two different people, and as long as I can make that clear (or start to) then we have no problems.

Right?

Well, Cubs, I'm glad it didn't turn into a "Your momma" argument.

I mainly just wanted to point out that when there is such a super high bar put there, I don't want to go anywhere near it unless I have a good chance to succeed jumping it.

Honestly though, after so long posting on the boards, I can easily separate what is said on the boards and what is done in game. When I first started posting, I was like Damn you Evil Poster, I won't touch you with a ten foot pole. Now I'm more like, well, I should at least give him a chance. However, I don't think it goes backwards...lol. If you're a jerk in game, I don't think being a nice guy on the boards is going to do much in my eyes.

I think my conflict is, I WISH for those parties, and I know they're attainable, but every person is different in the game. Heck, if I'm just a sap..lol. I accept what I get. I play in such odd times, that its hard to get a static. I work during prime time hours so I play at the wee hours of the night and I'll accept what I get.

Just to point out, I think anyone who has a day job by a computer most likely is a good player at FFXI. They have the time to research, look up new strategies, what to avoid. However, I don't like to be caught up in all the expectations of others. I like to set my own bar which is pretty much similar to general consensus anyways. I just don't like being pushed into it. When I'm blm, I try to get every piece of INT boosting equipment. When I'm a pld, I go for Vit and def. When I'm Rng, I go for Agi. It's just hte way I play.

And as much as I don't like seeing multiple posts (Making me go "damn, this again?"), I still think "Maybe they have something different." (which generally isn't true). But like I said, it's pretty much a place where you can vent your angers and such. Some of the popular topics (or just reoccuring) should be stickied so it doesn't happen too much, but see, now we're just complaining at how th eboard could be run. maybe someone will hear us, maybe they won't.

I just don't like hearing about all the super high expectations that everyone EXPECTS. It just makes me way too nervous that I can't function. With that beign said, I can't stop this trend towards god like playing ability, so I'm going to stay nervous and hope my playing ability gets me by.

As usual I didn't have all the facts down (yes I do admit to this***)

I don't feel like wasting space quoting your quotes of me, but on the note of the "ffxi bible," it is not necisarily good or bad that you posted it. This can be viewed (at least by me) as a grey area topic. Such information that I wish that some people could have plastered in their head can be noted as good, while the literal bombardment of agreement on your post made me wonder....
Of course, I took the brainwashing thing a little bit too far, I am not thinking that we all just agree with you, not that you manipulated our minds like some sort of evil overlord.

The only theory that I can think of to support my brainwashing accusation is that when you posted that "ffxi bible", everyone just agreed and confided unto it. As if you went up to someone, put a gun to their head and said "2+2 = 5", it doesn't matter that 2+2 = 4 mathematically, whatever the power says goes, no matter how much one can see its error.

Now I don't mean to say that you are erroneous in your sayings, I think you are a very very smart individual, it is just astonishing to see the influence that you can hold on a board like this (or is it just me?)

Hmmmm I don't mean to flip flop like some presidential candidates, but it does seem consistent to say that my original assumptions needed some clarification. Anyway Cubs, I'm still scared to death of ya', but maybe this can be viewed upon as good? Maybe not, maybe the day I PT with you will be the best Ub3r PT with 9000 experience I ever have!

Who knows......

Hah. I love that image. Strangely enough, the best photo I've ever had taken of myself was me sitting in a red velvet high-backed chair, half-hunched over, twirling brandy in a snifter while I gave my best evil, menacing look to the camera.

T'be honest, it fits my persona when it comes to things like this. I played the villain in all of my high school plays, I'm currently studying the ins and outs of voice acting, and one of my favorite performances of all time was Jeremy Irons (Scar.) Just so deliciously evil.

It leaks out. I'm an asshole. I'll always admit to being an asshole. But I'd feel so low-class if I were a "OMG UR MOM IS FAT" kind of asshole. Not my style. No, I prefer the calculated, smart, Anthony Hopkins-Hannibalesque villain. He may be a little (ok, a LOT) extreme, but in the end, you look back and you see he had a point.

Bracket Demon smiley close bracket.

Please don't make me concentrate my fire upon you by implementing such ridiculousely unplanned attacks which will roll right back at you.

You lose the thread.

If I want to hear casino spam/say macros/retarded emotes, I'll be more than happy to unfilter them. But, I don't. So I filter. Thenks for making a sweeping generalization of how I play the game based on HOW I FILTER MY TEXT BOX.

ah, the good old days

The elitist Cubswoo had a 10 page contract for me to go help him with Fenrir. My lawyers are still going over them.
