Ive been running the old replacement map pack for some time (it changes all the ingame maps to ones from ffxi-atlas.com). This post is just to let people interested or who maybe hadnt known about the map pack at all that theres been a substantial update.

Hey, real nifty, i'd love this... However, is this legal?
And would it give you maps to all the areas? even the ones that you don't have the map for ingame?
And there are some maps in FFxi-atlas where they have to have more than one copy of the maps cause of more info, like Ru'auan gardens (sp), with all the ports and what not...

Anyways, this sounds real cool... If it works and all..

Well, I believe .dat modding is against the ToS. But SE can't tell if you have anything modded if you keep all quiet-like about it.

But would it give you maps to areas you don't have maps to?
 
From my understanding this replaces the graphics in-game, but doesn't actually let you "have" the maps at all?

Correct. It modifies the maps you would see that you already own. So if you don't have the map yet, it would still show 'no map' when you tried to check that zone. Technically it is illegeal, but it isn't any worse than printing all the maps off yourself.
 
Ok...I DLed it....how do I use it?

Edit: Nevermind....lol

Double Edit: I don't think I'm going to install these....after reading all the comments on that page, it looks like it might do more harm than good...

Doesnt do any harm if you have half a brain =p
extract to your FFXI folder, and it'll put itself in the right subfolders, put it in the wrong folder and it wont work, or overwrite the wrong files.. then you have problems.
 
I always just run windows in the background with all that stuff on it.

ffxi-atlas.com (maps)
ffxi.somepage.com (crafting, food, NPC search)
ffxi.allakhazam.com (Quests, NM lookup, skill charts)
a skillchain chart from Gamefaqs.com
and Then a 45 hour playlist on media player.

Yall are all a bunch of cheaters... :nono:

With your parsers and your tp plug-ins and your map .dat replacements, and your distance plug-ins, and...

No no, not that. I meant where the hell i saved the DLed program at. But I found it.

Works fine. Pretty cool too.
 
Parsers don't do anything, Trippy. They just read the chat logs the game creates for GMs to review, and organizes the retardedly long bits of code and text. You could do it without one, but, meh... would take forever.

Oh no. days over. no longer heroine. /cry /emotear.

We need a mod where we can implement custom emotes into ffxi. Or better yet an Official Update.
