um.... that made no sense at all buuud-ay, it says i need GTK+ runtime environment and the gimp installers, ok, i go to what is supposed to be that
and i havent a freakin clue, it just comes up with a load of folders

I have not messed with it. I have no idea how it works. The end results I've seen have looked photoshop quality. It's all up to you. They have a FAQ. Read it.

ok, attempted to fix the colours a little, even if it does look ugly

ill work on it some more, gimp isnt great but hey its better than MS PAINT

Actually, I've been messing with it; GIMP is almost as good as photoshop, it just has - as photoshop has - one BITCH of a learning curve. One thing: It'll load up PSD (Photoshop base files.) I could send you a couple of the PSD's for some of the photoshops that you could fool around with, that's one of the ways I learned photoshop...
