Grrr, my FFXI PC is down for the count X_x Well..kinda

It brings up the screen that asks how I want to restart it cause I shut it down wrong last night, and any choice I click (normally, safe mode...you name it) it will get to the windows XP screen and just reboot!!

If anyone has any ideas help! XD

you could have a corrupted OS, usually XP is pretty good taking abuse but something could have gotten ganked.

If you re-install windows and it does the same thing I'd blame the powersupply or proc first.

boot sector on the hard drive is probably hosed. uninstalling and reinstalling would work

Actually Mirr, if you try hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE at the log in screen you may be able to save it.

I had the same problem last night while trying to instal lower Nvida drivers for my graphics card. I'd come to my start up screen and it was 800x600 resolution with 16BIT color.

What I did was slam CTRL+ALT+DELETE until I was taken to a kind of default log in screen. I logged in, finished installing, changed all my settings, restarted & now it works fine. <3

I recently reformatted my pc... at least I was able to keep my macros (saved the user info folder to a disc) and omg it was a pain in the ass to get back on ffxi. Eventually (8p.m.~4a.m.) I was done with updates and able to get on, only to want to pass out. When I first read this, being the stupid Torringtonian I am, though you were gonna bitch about Price Chopper, because all my friends call it P.C. since like half of them work there, stupid grocery stores... Anyway, grats on fixing it, lol. We'll hit up Pizza Palace sometime, but I've had a, well, interesting past week and I need some time to clear my head.

Exact same thing happened to me, we tried everything.
Our last option was to wipe the hard drive, but it restarted in the middle of the wipe, leaving a giant hole in the computer.
>_> we just ended up getting a new one, which I am using right now.
I was told that the motherboard must've been the problem  seeing as how everything else didnt work.

I have mine in a Quad boot format. If anyone of my installs goes bad, I simply boot into one of the others and that fixes the boot sector.

Well it fixes SOMETHING anyway lol. It ends up working so I get happy.
