Dashboard update

I love it. What's so confusing about it?

The new dash is confusing!

How so? i find it very simple and easy to navigate, has not been one thing i cant find yet, i love all the add ons like screen shots, party mode, Photo party, Friends list.
I just wish it would boot directly to the My Xbox line when i turn it on instead of that insider thing or whatever it is.
i also LOVE the feature that lets me put in a disc while the system is on and it wont boot into the game, lets me do that manually cause there are WAY too many times when i wanna put in a game so i can play it when im ready but i dont wanna boot it up yet so i just left the tray open till i was ready,
its also very good for those who just want to install it to the hard drive right away which im sure is why it was put in.
Now if they fix the freezing friends list problem i would say it was a pretty smooth update launch, i just was talking to a friend in texas while he updated his box and it immediatley froze on him in the friends list, ive had it happen twice now

I had a freeze on the friends list too, but otherwise it's been smooth sailing for me. It's a nice layout and the avatars were quick and easy enough to get an accurate one for me. I approve of the update.

Wasn't too bad for me either, I did not have my friend's list freeze on me (yet)

I really like this feature.

Delete Zero Gamerscore games.

You can remove any games from your games played list that you have earned no achievements or gamerscore. Press the Xbox 360– guide button, navigate left to the games section and choose Achievements. From here choose the game with zero gamerscore you want to remove and press X (Delete Game History.)

It always irked me to play a demo and have the line of 0 gamerscore listings everywhere.

I am currently installing any games that I might get the urge to play. No King Kong, you won't be getting installed. :)

Glad to hear it's not just me becasue they'll probably do something about it sooner than later.

Otherwise I like the look and after intial fumbling, I've figured out where everything is. What's funny to me is that even with the variety of avatar looks, everyone I know has created one that actually looks like them in RL.

Aside from not being able to play FFXI thus far, I like it, lol.

Human nature to make something want to look like you if you can help it...usually.

Mine looks exactly like me as well. Right down to the grinning smile type, which I was surprised they had as an option, among others.

One of my favorite aspects is the ability to now install games to your HDD. That's gonna make MS a lot more money since people will more than likely wanna spring for a larger HDD to hold everything.

I did the update everything went good , then I went to log in to FFxi only to find it gone. I reinstalled to HD but I keep getting a game error code, it's on the HD but will not open. ;;

Square enix has announced they are having some problems with the new dashboard and FFXI... they're suggesting users to uninstall and reinstall FFXI t o fix it ... :shok:

Yeah which "may" fix it.. but, also if you have the FFXI Collection that has all of the expansions included, it's a considerably lower install time. Last night took about 2 hours total.

Avatars are horrid, mandatory avatars or even worse. The new look also fails, hard. The only thing I like is the private chat and party additions. Overall it's a bad imitation of the Wii's Mii's and PS3's UI (bassakwards). They couldn't do anything unique, at all. Whoever chose the lime green color scheme should be shot and whoever chose to not let us change the tab colors should be hung.

I love the new look of the menus.
The Avatars are fine for me.
I am loving Netflix.
I am fine with HD installs.
I am IN FREAKING LOVE with the new party chat system... Seriously this is great. Its like a party every night lol.

HELLLLPP!

OK FFXI won't work on the new stupid nxe crap. I can't get it to work.

SO i try to remove it... but IT IS NOT LISTED in my MEMORY to be deleted....

Do I hafta format the HD, and LOSE all of my other shit on the HD to install FFXI again!?

Yeah my FFXI is hosed too. I'll reinstall if that's all it takes when I feel like bothering, but so far it bombs out every time I try to sign in.

This was posted in another thread:

On a separate note, we found a quick fix that worked for our 2 XBOX's, in regards to the message "Could not read disc, please clean it with a soft cloth" or something along those lines. This problem, as acknowledged by Microsoft, was cause by the update to the dashboard etc.

Anyway, my wife was messing about as we were both unable to even get in to the PoL install/reinstall screen, and went in to "GAME LIBRARY -> PoL Viewer -> Install to Hard-drive." She did this, it took about 10 minutes tops, and the game now works fine. I did the same with mine, and it also works.

So for anyone experiencing these problems, try what I just suggested, I get the feeling it might just work =/ Props to my wife for fixing our problem anyway lol.
