DoD:Source was released today through Steam. I must say that this game is amazing. The maps are so detailed compared to the first DoD that I barely even recognized the map I was on.

I was a little confused at first with weapons because they've changed them around. Such as Rifleman for both Axis and Allies. In the original, you had the rifle with a secondary fire of using the rifle to stab/beat people, a knife, a pistol, and two grenades. Now rifleman has the secondary fire of looking down the barrel to aim, a knife, and an attatchment for the rifle that will shoot grenades.

I had the new High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting on, and the details were amazing. Although I ended up turning it off because my computer was lagging a little because of it. I believe they updated the Source engine for all games to use the HDR feature, although only Day of Defeat: Source uses it at the moment, and Lost Cost coming soon.

If you have Half-Life 2, I suggest you get this. I'm not sure how much it costs without the Silver or Gold package through steam, but I'm sure it's not much. And I play as Swishiee if you ever want to look for me.

I might enjoy this if Steam hadn't screwed such a large percentage of their customer base with the last patch. From 80-100fps on moderate settings to 10-15 with minimum settings after the patch. Valve's games are competly unplayable to some. :x

I loved Day of Defeat, but I'm not going to pay for it

Yeah, I can't play DoD source. I even turned everything off, and only saw a slight boost in performance(which there was hardly any performing going on in the first place :/)

I'm one of the customers that got ripped by buying the collector's edition in stores. I paid the same amount as the people that bought the gold edition through Steam, but I got none of the benefits. How crappy is that? On top of it, the Half-life 1 thing running on the HL2 engine looks butt ugly, the game looks better running on the original HL1 engine. I'm not buying anymore Valve products.

Black Mesa: Source is in the works at the moment. It's from an independent team, but they're remaking the original game, all with new models, textures, lighting, the works. Only reason Valve made HL:Source was just to show how much of a difference there was with the physics compared to the original.

And you should go with Steam for getting Valve's products. Steam > reatail

DoD:source is pretty good, I cant wait till they get the colision freeze fixed.

Been playing DoD Source for about 4-5 hours the past couple days combined and ya its pretty awesome compared to the old one... way better imo from what I remember (I dont think I played since Beta 2 though).

Ouch, Orions got a damn good point there. I'd much rather stick with my classic DoD and get BattleField 2, that games incredible.

you should play the call of duty 2 demo....that one is badass too. i downloaded it last night. only problem is that its single player and kinda short
